Aston Villa vs. Liverpool: What Premier League records could Mohamed Salah break as milestone nears?

Mohamed Salah is on the verge of equalling yet another record, and he could also be set to break a number of other records between now and the end of the season.

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah only needs one more assist to become the third player to assist 10 or more goals in away games in a single Premier League season.

The Reds are set to take on Aston Villa at Villa Park on Wednesday, and a victory would see the team move 10 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal.

Salah found the back of the net in each of his last six games, and his tally of 23 goals in the Premier League makes him the division's top scorer.

However, the Egyptian's 14 assists in the Premier League also make him the league's best provider, highlighting how he is more than just a poacher in the final third.

Nine of his assists have been away from home, and if he manages to produce one against Villa on Wednesday, he will become just the third player in the division's history to to assist at least 10 goals on the road in one season, following in the footsteps of Muzzy Izzet in 2003-04 (10) and Cesc Fabregas in 2014-15 (11).

What other records could Salah break?

Salah has scored 14 goals away from home, and when combined with his nine assists on the road, he has already claimed the record for most goal involvements by a player away from home in a single Premier League campaign.

If he was to register another six assists in the top flight, he would equal the division's assist record, putting himself alongside Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

The winger has at times faced accusations of being selfish in the final third, but given he currently ranks 10th in the Premier League's all-time assist charts with a tally of 83, it has perhaps been an unfair criticism.

Elsewhere, the 32-year-old only needs to score four more times in the top flight to draw level with Sergio Aguero (184) as the Premier League's joint fifth-highest goalscorer, and seven more would see him draw level with fourth-placed Andrew Cole.

There is also a possibility that Salah could break the records for goal involvements in a 38-game Premier League season (44) and a 42-game season (47).

Salah is currently on track to score 35 goals and register 21 assists, which would comfortably surpass both records.

Regardless of whether the Liverpool talisman is able to maintain his outstanding levels from now until the end of the season, there is no doubting that the attacker will be remembered as one of the league's greatest ever forwards.
