After witnessing his Leicester side win just twice in nine games earlier in the season, Brendan Rodgers would have naturally had concerns about the development of his squad.

However, three successive victories in all competitions have eased any lingering doubts, the Foxes now ninth in the Premier League and in a better position in the Europa League.

There is still much more work to do in order to achieve their targets this season, but the Foxes are back on an upward trajectory after wins over Manchester United, Spartak Moscow and Brentford.

Leicester were made to work hard in all three outings, coming from behind in the first two games before withstanding another strong Bees performance to win 2-1 on Sunday.

Patson Daka assisted James Maddison's winning goal in West London, the Zambian now having five goals and an assist from his last 148 minutes on the pitch.

Leicester reached this stage of the competition by beating Millwall, and Brighton have followed suit by comfortably outclassing Cardiff City and Swansea City.

Graham Potter has rotated his squad on both occasions, and there is every indication that he will do the same on Wednesday evening with a visit to Liverpool due three days later.

Potter will want to see his fringe members give him food for thought with his senior crop having gone four matches without success in the Premier League.

Despite remaining in fifth place in the top flight, the manner of their 4-1 reverse at home to Manchester City highlighted that Brighton need an extra gear to remain in the top 10.

These clubs are no strangers to facing each other in a cup competition, Leicester prevailing 1-0 in an FA Cup tie as recently as February.

Team News

Rodgers may opt for a front three of Harvey Barnes, Ayoze Perez and Ademola Lookman, leaving the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho and Daka among the replacements.

With Marc Albrighton injured, Ricardo Pereira or Timothy Castagne should feature at right wing-back, and Daniel Amartey and Jonny Evans could also keep their places in the side.

Danny Ward, Hamza Choudhury and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall should all come into the Foxes XI.

As far as Brighton are concerned, Dan Burn may be the only player to retain his place after the defeat to Man City.

Yves Bissouma could be involved for the first time since Septmeber 19, while Tariq Lamptey may be provided with his second start since returning from a hamstring injury.

Leicester City possible starting lineup:
Ward; Amartey, Evans, Vestergaard; Pereira, Choudhury, Dewsbury-Hall, Bertrand; Barnes, Perez, Lookman

Brighton & Hove Albion possible starting lineup:
Steele; Webster, Duffy, Burn; Lamptey, Bissouma, Mwepu, March; Richards, Mac Allister; Connolly

We say: Leicester City 2-0 Brighton & Hove Albion

As we have seen in the past, Potter has selected an unfamiliar side in this competition, and that should only lead to an easier evening for Leicester. While Rodgers will also make alterations, his second-string should have enough firepower to help the club breeze into the last eight.
