Liverpool reportedly set the asking price of Darwin Nunez as they anticipate interest in the forward during the summer transfer window.

Liverpool have reportedly set the asking price of Darwin Nunez ahead of his likely exit during the summer transfer window.

The Uruguay international is part of a squad that is currently celebrating winning the Premier League title after Sunday's 5-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Nunez can claim to have played his part in that success, contributing five goals and two assists from his eight starts and 18 substitute outings in the competition.

However, having dropped down the pecking order since Arne Slot's arrival, it has become increasingly apparent that there is an openness regarding a parting of the ways.

According to AS, one of Spanish football's biggest clubs are contemplating an approach with Liverpool having determined their valuation.

What is Nunez's asking price?

The report alleges that the Merseyside giants are open to accepting proposals worth between €40m (£34m) and €45m (£38.2m) when the market reopens in June.

That would represent recouping just over half of the €75m that Liverpool shelled out for Nunez when they signed him from Benfica in 2022.

Atletico Madrid have been credited with an interest in the 25-year-old with Diego Simeone said to be in the market for a new centre-forward this summer.

Simeone has allegedly been left 'seduced' by the qualities of Nunez, while Atletico's board are said to be ready to give the green light to a transfer if the terms are viewed as realistic.

Liverpool are said to be prepared to loan out Nunez if it comes with a buy clause and any interested team are prepared to cover the bulk of the player's wages.

Should Atletico be viewed as the frontrunners?

With the offer of Champions League football, Atletico will feel that they are in a strong position to convince Nunez to make the switch to Riyadh Air Metropolitano.

Al-Nassr are one of four PIF-owned clubs that could potentially look to tempt Nunez into signing for a Saudi Pro League team and have the finances to do so.

Nevertheless, the report adds that Nunez is currently against making a move to the Middle East, his preference being to remain in Europe.

Should Liverpool retain an alleged stance regarding a loan, Atletico may face competition from other European clubs once they have determined their transfer funds for the summer market.
