Augsburg have reportedly decided against signing Brentford loanee Frank Onyeka on a permanent deal in the summer transfer window.
Onyeka has made 78 competitive appearances since he joined Brentford from Danish side FC Midtjylland in the summer of 2021.
The 27-year-old featured in 26 Premier League games for the Bees last season, although he only started 11 of those matches.
After struggling for regular starting opportunities, Onyeka was allowed to join Augsburg on a season-long loan deal last summer.
The Nigeria international has enjoyed regular game time with the German club, having started 24 of his 25 Bundesliga appearances.

Onyeka set to return to Brentford
There is no buy option in Onyeka's loan agreement, meaning that Augsburg would have to negotiate a deal with Brentford to sign him on a permanent basis.
However, according to journalist Florian Plettenburg, Augsburg are not currently looking to sign Onyeka on a permanent deal in the summer transfer window.
The update claims that no talks are taking place between the two clubs over a transfer, meaning that he will return to Brentford when his loan deal expires at the end of the season.
Onyeka has just six matches left to play with the Bundesliga club, including the upcoming away meeting with Bochum on Saturday.

Does Onyeka have a future at Brentford?
The midfielder still has a couple of years left to run on his current contract, with his Brentford deal set to run until the summer of 2027.
However, it is difficult to see a place for Onyeka in Thomas Frank's squad, especially as he was deemed surplus to requirements this season.
The Brentford boss can already call upon a number of central midfield options, including Vitaly Janelt, Christian Norgaard, Mathias Jensen and Yegor Yarmolyuk.
Even if they want to strengthen their engine room, the Bees would surely delve into the transfer market instead of bringing Onyeka back into the fold.
With that in mind, it still seems highly likely that Onyeka will either be sold or loaned out in the summer transfer window.
