Leicester City are reportedly eyeing up former Everton and Burnley manager Sean Dyche as a replacement for Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Leicester City are reportedly interested in bringing Sean Dyche to the King Power Stadium this summer.

Following a Championship-winning campaign under Enzo Maresca last season, the Foxes have suffered an immediate return to the second tier this time around.

Both Steve Cooper and Ruud van Nistelrooy have been unable to get a positive tune out of Leicester, who are guaranteed to finish inside the league's bottom three.

The East Midlands club are currently occupying 19th spot in the Premier League standings with three games to go, 16 points behind West Ham United in 17th.

Leicester's penultimate away match of the top-flight schedule arrives on Sunday afternoon, when a trip to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest is on the agenda.

Leicester considering Dyche as potential new boss?

According to The Sun, another name has joined the shortlist of potential incomings at the one-time English champions ahead of the Championship campaign of 2025-26.

The report claims that Leicester are considering a move for Dyche, who has been out of employment since leaving Everton at the start of the calendar year.

It is understood that some of the Foxes hierarchy view the 53-year-old as their ideal choice to lead the Foxes in the second tier next season.

However, others are supposedly demanding a more 'footballing' coach, such as former Southampton boss Russell Martin or Liam Manning of Bristol City.

Due to the financial pressure on the East Midlands outfit to secure an immediate return to the Premier League, it is believed that Dyche's experience in the Championship makes him the standout candidate.

Dyche decision delayed

It is said that Dyche would have joined Leicester during the current season if the club had opted to part ways with Van Nistelrooy after January.

There is clearly an interest in the role from the ex-Burnley boss, who is known for his pragmatic style of football and churning out results.

Dyche achieved promotion from the Championship with the Clarets twice over a 10-year period, and he would be expected to add a third to his CV at the King Power Stadium in 2025-26.
