Bayern Munich have reportedly identified a Liverpool attacker as a potential summer transfer target.
The Bundesliga champions have recently been in the hunt for Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, rivalling at least two Premier League sides in the race for his signature.
However, it has since become apparent that Liverpool are the clear favourites to eventually get a deal for the Germany international over the line.
Wirtz is expected to complement several of the attackers already available to Arne Slot at Anfield, yet it is highly likely that at least one of the current contingent in the final third will leave Merseyside.
As it stands, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez are each being linked with transfers to other clubs, yet it appears that Bayern have their sights set on a different forward.

Bayern considering Gakpo bid
As per Sky Sport Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenberg, Bayern officials have placed Cody Gakpo on a shortlist of potential additions.
The report alleges that there has already been contact regarding a possible deal for the Netherlands international, who has a contract until 2028.
Nevertheless, it is further claimed that suitable offers may be considered for the 26-year-old, despite his reputation being enhanced while playing under Slot.
A total of 18 goals and six assists were contributed during 49 appearances in all competitions during 2024-25, the player now having 41 strikes and 17 assists from 128 outings since his arrival in January 2023.
Bayern's director of sport Max Eberl is said to be admirer of Gakpo, seemingly a major factor as to why he has been included on the aforementioned shortlist.

An ambitious choice
AC Milan's Rafael Leao and Brighton & Hove Albion's Kaoru Mitoma are mentioned as alternatives to Gakpo, with all three being star players at their respective clubs.
A space will open up on the left flank if Leroy Sane departs the Allianz Arena on a free transfer, yet it still feels that Bayern are outsiders to sign Gakpo.
Although the outlay on Wirtz and other targets may eventually lead to funds needing to be recouped through sales, Gakpo is viewed as more valuable to Liverpool than Jota and Nunez.
Having been signed from PSV Eindhoven in a deal that may allegedly reach £44.3m, Gakpo would realistically cost more than that figure if he is sold this summer.
