Leicester City are reportedly considering Danny Rohl, Lee Carsley and Russell Martin as possible replacements for current head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Leicester City have reportedly shortlisted three names as potential replacements for head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Foxes have endured a woeful campaign on their return to the Premier League, suffering relegation with five games of the season to spare.

In a bit of brighter news, Leicester ended their nine-game losing run at the King Power Stadium with a 2-0 success over bottom side Southampton on Saturday.

Into his final year of 12 with the East Midlands outfit, club legend Jamie Vardy netted the opener for the Foxes, before Jordan Ayew's strike made sure of the points late in the first period.

After earning only their fifth top-flight success of the term, Leicester remain 19th in the Premier League standings, 16 points behind West Ham United in the safety of 17th.

Leicester contact three coaches with Van Nistelrooy future in doubt?

According to The Daily Mail, Leicester are actively considering replacements for current head coach Van Nistelrooy ahead of the new campaign.

The report claims that the Foxes are yet to decide the future of the Dutchman, who has had little positive impact on the team since arriving following the dismissal of Steve Cooper.

It is understood that Leicester are contemplating a swoop for Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl, with the German impressing in Yorkshire over the past year or so.

Rohl was supposedly a candidate to take the reins at the King Power Stadium in December after Cooper's exit, however the Foxes hierarchy decided against the second-tier coach.

As well as the German, it is believed that Leicester are also considering moves for Lee Carsley and Russell Martin, contacting their intermediaries.

Who should Leicester go for?

Given the pedigree of Leicester - especially among the rest of the Championship crop - a well-renowned head coach should walk through the doors at Filbert Way over the summer.

However, there is a need for the Foxes higher-ups to select a boss who will fit the division and the group of players well, spearheading a successful promotion push.

Former Southampton man Martin has recent experience of winning promotion to the Premier League, while England Under-21s leader Carsley has developed an excellent style of play in his Young Lions team.
