Leicester City are reportedly considering a move for Bristol City manager Liam Manning, with the future of Ruud van Nistelrooy at the Foxes in serious doubt.

Leicester City are reportedly interested in signing Bristol City manager Liam Manning as a replacement for Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The 39-year-old took charge of the West Country outfit in November 2023 and has since guided them to the playoffs during his first full campaign at the wheel.

Bristol City are now in the post-season picture for the first time in 17 years, looking to reach the glamour and riches of the Premier League for the first time.

The Robins are just three matches away from the top flight, where they have not resided since the 1979-80 campaign during the days of the old first division.

Despite winning just one of their last five matches of the regular term, Manning's men secured a sixth-placed finish in the Championship table.

Leicester identify Manning as Van Nistelrooy replacement?

According to talkSPORT, another name has been added to the list of potential replacements for under-pressure Leicester head coach Van Nistelrooy.

The report claims that the Foxes could make a move to recruit Manning, who has impressed massively over the last 18 months in charge of Bristol City.

Manning is supposedly on a shortlist of options, alongside the likes of Lee Carsley, Danny Rohl and former Southampton man Russell Martin.

Despite having a contract at the King Power Stadium until 2027, Van Nistelrooy is expected to leave the club at the end of the Premier League season.

Should Bristol City seal promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs, it is hard to imagine Manning making the step down to the Championship this summer.

Leicester's remaining matches

Winning just four of his 24 competitive matches in charge, Van Nistelrooy has failed to change the fortunes of Leicester, who were one of the favourites for relegation at the start of the term.

The Foxes are currently languishing down in 19th spot in the Premier League table, a mammoth 16 points from safety with three games left.

Leicester visit East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon, before clashes with Ipswich Town and Bournemouth round off a sobering season.
