Arsenal reportedly receive a boost in the pursuit of a Bundesliga with claims that the attacker would prefer to move to the Premier League.

Arsenal have reportedly been boosted in their pursuit of Leroy Sane, who is said to prefer a move away from Bayern Munich to the Premier League.

The Gunners produced a spirited display against Liverpool on Sunday, coming back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 at Anfield.

While head coach Mikel Arteta will be pleased that his side were able to avoid defeat, he will be bitterly disappointed that his team were beaten to the Premier League title by the Reds.

The Londoners have faced several difficulties this term, with injuries to key attackers such as Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus disrupting their season.

It would not be surprising if Arsenal looked to strengthen in attack in the upcoming summer transfer window, and Sky Germany claim that Bayern Munich winger Sane would be keen on signing for the club as a free agent when his contract expires in the summer, though they could face competition from Chelsea.

Why Sane may not be Gunners' missing piece

Sane has considerable experience in the Premier League having played for Manchester City between 2016 and 2020, scoring 25 goals and providing 27 assists in 90 top-flight appearances.

While he is now 29 years old, he has still managed to be productive in the final third for Bayern, netting 11 times and registering five assists in the Bundesliga this season despite playing just 18 matches worth of minutes (1,607).

The Gunners have only found the back of the net 66 times in the Premier League this season - 17 fewer times than champions Liverpool - so adding depth and competition for wingers like Gabriel Martinelli would be a sensible idea.

However, Arsenal's issues in attack arguably do not stem from the forward players at the club but rather from the lack of creativity behind them.

The team have only produced 54.4 xG in 2024-25 - the eighth most in the top flight - and they have generated less xG than the likes of Brentford (55).

Midfielder Martin Odegaard has struggled to replicate the form that he displayed in 2023-24, while the loss of Granit Xhaka's creative passing has been detrimental.

If Arsenal have ambitions of challenging champions Liverpool in 2025-26, they will need to ensure that they are able to consistently create chances in attack for their forward players from midfield.
