Preview: Queens Park Rangers vs. Swansea City - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Monday's Championship clash between Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Swansea City will be looking to better the points total they achieved in the Championship last term on Monday when they travel to play Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.

The hosts are in 14th place, and their tally of 53 points means they are mathematically safe, while the Swans are in 11th place with 57 points and managed to beat Hull City 1-0 on April 18.

QPR's 2-1 victory against Preston North End on Saturday ensured they will remain in the Championship next term, and they need just three more points to equal their total from 2023-24.

The Londoners have scored six goals in their three most recent matches, as many as they had managed in their prior seven.

Head coach Marti Cifuentes's side lost 3-0 against Swansea in the league on December 26, a game in which they conceded three first-half goals while failing to produce a single shot on target.

The Rangers' form has been positive, with the club unbeaten in their last four outings, winning two and drawing two in that time.

QPR have not often experienced defeat at Loftus Road – losing just two of their past 13 at the stadium while winning seven – but they have drawn their last three at home.

Swansea were able to stop Hull from creating a single big chance during their clash, though their winning penalty in the 51st minute was the victors' only big chance.

The visitors have been excellent defensively considering they have kept four consecutive clean sheets, and they also prevented opponents from scoring in four of their prior nine games.

Manager Alan Sheehan needs to collect one more point to help his side surpass the total they achieved last campaign, while three wins would see his team equal the figure they tallied in 2022-23.

The Swans head into the next gameweek having triumphed in each of their last four fixtures, scoring six goals but winning 1-0 on three occasions.

Swansea have not been as consistent away from home given they have lost two, drawn two and won two of their six most recent matches on the road.

Team News

QPR attackers Alfie Lloyd, Koki Saito and Zan Celar are all dealing with injuries, and their absences may lead to starts for Karamoko Dembele, Nicolas Madsen, Koki Saito and Yang Min-hyeo.

With defenders Harvey Vale and Jake Clarke-Salter both set to miss their side's game on Monday, fans can expect Jimmy Dunne, Liam Morrison, Ronnie Edwards and Harrison Ashby to appear in defence.

Winger Myles Peart-Harris will not be part of Swansea's matchday XI, so perhaps wingers Ronald and Ji-sung Eom will flank Zan Vipotnik.

Josh Key, Ben Cabango, Harry Darling and Josh Tymon started against Hull in a back four, and they are almost certain to retain their places given defenders Hannes Delcroix and Kristian Pedersen have been ruled out.

Queens Park Rangers possible starting lineup:
Nardi; Dunne, Morrison, Edwards, Ashby; Varane, Colback; Dembele, Madsen, Saito; Min-hyeo

Swansea City possible starting lineup:
Vigouroux; Key, Cabango, Darling, Tymon; Franco, Allen, O'Brien; Ronald, Vipotnik, Eom

We say: Queens Park Rangers 0-0 Swansea City

Swansea's excellent backline could keep yet another clean sheet against QPR, but Loftus Road has proven to be somewhat of a fortress.

The hosts will find it hard to get the better of the visitors' defence, but they will be confident of taking at least a point considering their home form.
