Three Championship clubs are reportedly among five teams who are contemplating a summer approach for Swansea City forward Jerry Yates.

Swansea City forward Jerry Yates has reportedly emerged as a popular transfer target ahead of the summer window.

Despite a respectable 2023-24 at the Welsh outfit, Yates was allowed to go out on loan to Derby County for this campaign.

The 28-year-old ultimately played a key role in keeping the Rams in the Championship, contributing 10 goals and four assists from his 42 appearances.

However, Yates has since returned to his parent club to await developments with his future, and the likelihood is that he will still depart Swansea.

According to Football Insider, three clubs from the second tier of English football are monitoring any developments.

Which teams want Yates?

The report suggests that Blackburn Rovers, Hull City and Queens Park Rangers are the trio who are ready to chase the versatile attacker's signature.

Furthermore, it is claimed that two unnamed MLS sides are ready to put forward a proposal to Swansea and the player.

Although Derby may be interested in retaining Yates's services in the long term, it is suggested that the East Midlands outfit are currently not regarded as one of the favourites.

Yates has a year remaining on his contract at Swansea, with Alan Sheehan left to decide whether he wishes to reintegrate him into the squad and the club's hierarchy determining what would be an acceptable price for his signature.

A wide-open race?

At this stage, it has to be considered that each team involved in a scrap for Yates are competitive given what they can offer.

With 41 goals and 12 assists from 194 Championship appearances, Yates will feel like he warrants a regular starting spot wherever he ends up.

Despite his status as one of the most important Blackpool's players of the past 20 years, Yates would likely be prepared to join fellow North-West club Blackburn.

If he wishes to take on a new challenge in the United States, he could have his pick of clubs, but much could be dependent on Swansea's valuation.
