Sports Mole previews Saturday's MLS Playoffs clash between New England Revolution and FC Cincinnati, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

FC Cincinnati will be looking to get back to winning ways in the MLS this weekend when they travel to Gillette Stadium to take on the New England Revolution

The hosts enter this weekend’s fixture in 11th place in the Eastern Conference with 23 points after 15 games, while the visitors are second with 30 points in 17 matches.

The New England Revolution ended a three-match road trip on a high, beating CF Montreal 3-0, with all three goals coming in the second half after the Canadian outfit were reduced to 10 men.

New England have earned points in eight of their 10 away games this season and are currently on a seven-match unbeaten run on the road, which is their longest streak without an away defeat since 2019.

Peyton Miller, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks, scored the Revolution’s opener against Montreal just after the interval before Ilay Feingold bagged a brace to secure points.

With that result, Caleb Porter’s side is now unbeaten in their last nine league games (W5 D4 L0) dating back to the middle of April, and they maintained clean sheets in six matches during that period.

Revs’ shot-stopper Aljaz Ivacic had to make just two saves in the last match and has now recorded seven shutouts this term, a new season high, surpassing his previous best of six set in 2022.

Meanwhile, FC Cincinnati suffered their first defeat at TQL Stadium in 2025 ahead of the international break, going down 2-1 to DC United, who were winless in five league games coming into the match.

Gabriel Pirani and Conner Antley scored for DC on either side of Kevin Denkey’s 10th MLS goal of the season for the Orange and Blue, which took him to joint-third in the leading scorers list alongside Lionel Messi and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting

Pat Noonan’s side is now winless in their last four league games (D2 L2), a notable dip after winning seven of their previous eight games, and that run of results has also seen them slip four points behind Eastern Conference leaders Philadelphia.

FCC’s away record of late has also been underwhelming, with just one win in their last four on the road, though they have won on their last two visits to Gillette Stadium and are unbeaten in their last five at this venue.

Team News

New England Revolution midfielder Brandon Bye on May 24, 2025

Feingold provided the assist for the Revs' opening goal against Montreal in the last match before netting two of his own in the second half, which took him to six direct goal contributions in his last five starts.

The hosts will be missing at least four players for this weekend’s match due to injury, including Luca Langoni (hamstring), Will Sands (ankle), Leonardo Campana (muscle) and Brayan Ceballos (head).

Kei Kamara came off the bench to register his 450th appearance in the MLS against DC, becoming only the fourth player in league history to reach the milestone after Nick Rimando, Kyle Beckerman and Dax McCarty

Nick Hagglund suffered two broken ribs against Atlanta at the end of last month and is expected to remain sidelined for the foreseeable future, while Yuya Kubo is flagged as a doubt for this match due to a leg injury.

New England Revolution possible starting lineup:

Ivacic; Hughes, Fofana, Beason; Feingold, Polster, Yusuf, Miller; Gil; Ganago, Chancalay

FC Cincinnati possible starting lineup:

Celentano; Robinson, Miazga, Hadebe; Yedlin, Bucha, Anunga, Engel; Valenzuela, Evander; Denkey

We say: New England Revolution 2-2 FC Cincinnati

Cincinnati have been leaking goals of late, which sees them enter this match winless in their last four league games, but they cannot be counted out of this contest, having dominated this fixture in recent times.

New England made full use of their numerical advantage in their last match and are now unbeaten in nine games, and we feel they will be able to extend that record by earning a share of the spoils this weekend.
