Sports Mole previews Saturday's Norwegian Eliteserien clash between KFUM Oslo and SK Brann, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

SK Brann will continue their Eliteserien title bid when they travel to KFUM Arena for Saturday’s meeting with KFUM Oslo.

The visitors are sitting in second place in the standings, while the relegation-threatened hosts head into the weekend in 11th position.

Match preview

KFUM are just two points above the bottom three after winning four, drawing three and losing six of their 13 league matches this season.

Johannes Moesgaard’s side have put together a five-game unbeaten league run since they suffered the most recent top-flight victory against Valerenga at the end of May.

After kicking off that run of results with a draw against Rosenborg, they went on to record back-to-back Elitserien victories over Stromsgodset and Molde, before playing out a 1-1 scoreline in their home meeting with Bryne.

KFUM then returned to winning ways with a 2-0 away victory against Haugesund, which came courtesy of goals from Ayoub Aleesami and Sverre Sandal.

They will now return to the familiar surroundings of the KFUM Arena, where they have struggled for victories in recent times, having won just one of their previous five home league games (D1, L3).

The hosts will enter Saturday's contest with hopes of beating Brann for the first time since claiming a 1-0 last-16 victory in the Norwegian Cup in March 2022.

Brann head coach Freyr Alexandersson on April 6, 2025

Brann are looking to extend their unbeaten run to four matches after taking seven points from their last three top-flight matches.

They bounced back from a heavy 3-0 defeat to Bodo/Glimt with a narrow 1-0 victory over Sandefjord, before they rescued a 1-1 draw in their away clash with HamKam earlier this month.

Freyr Alexandersson's side then produced a commanding performance to take maximum points from last Sunday's home outing against leaders Viking, with Joachim Soltvedt, Japhet Sery Larsen and Saever Magnusson all finding the net in a 3-1 victory.

The win took Brann onto 30 points from 15 matches, moving them to within six points of Viking with a game in hand over the table toppers.

Brann may be dreaming of lifting their first Eliteserien title since 2007, but they will also be aware that the task is not quite as simple as chasing down Viking, with the second-placed side facing further competition from the likes of Tromso, Bodo/Glimt and Rosenborg.

They should fancy their chances of taking three points from Saturday's fixture, having won three of their previous four competitive matches with KFUM, including a 2-0 home victory in their most recent meeting in September 2024.

Team News

Eivind Helland of Brann on May 3, 2025

KFUM are expected to be without the services of Robin Rasch, Moussa Njie and Niclas Semmen due to injury.

Bjorn Kristensen is pushing for a starting spot after featuring as a half-time substitute in the 2-0 win over Haugesund.

Captain Johannes Nunez will continue to lead the line for the hosts, having scored three goals and contributed three assists in nine Elisterien appearances this season.

As for Brann, they are unable to call upon the injured quartet of Niklas Castro, Fredrik Knudsen, Sakarias Opsahl and Jonas Torvik.

Rasmus Holten is expected to replace Sery Jensen, who is suspended after being sent off in stoppage time of the recent win over Viking.

Magnusson is hoping to make his first start for the club after coming off the bench to score in his Brann debut last weekend.

KFUM Oslo possible starting lineup:

Odegaard; Aleesami, Berglie, Tonnessen; Hoseth, Hestnes, Sandal, Hickson; Kristensen, Okeke, Nunez

SK Brann possible starting lineup:

Dyngeland; Pedersen, Holten, Helland, Soltvedt; Gudmundsson, Kornvig, Myhre; Mathisen, Hansen, Magnusson

We say: KFUM Oslo 1-2 SK Brann

KFUM may be enjoying a five-game unbeaten league run, but they tend to struggle in meetings with Brann, and with that in mind, we think the visitors will do just enough to emerge victorious for the fourth time in the last five head-to-head matches.
