Huddersfield Town and Burnley play out a goalless draw in Saturday's Premier League meeting at the John Smith's Stadium.

Huddersfield Town and Burnley have played out a goalless draw in Saturday's Premier League meeting at the John Smith's Stadium.

The game began on a scrappy note, with both sides struggling to hang on to possession beyond a few passes.

Huddersfield weighed in with the first effort of the game nine minutes in as Collin Quaner let rip with a ferocious shot that Tom Pope pushed over.

On 13 minutes, Kevin Long saw a header turned away by Jonas Lossl before the rebound was bundled home by Jeff Hendrick, only for the linesman to rule the goal out for offside.

Burnley continued to threaten as Johann Berg Gudmundsson fired wide on in the 22nd minute before setting up Steven Defour in the following attack, but the Belgian also skewed his effort off target.

Sean Dyche's side were on top for the majority of the first half but were unable to find a breakthrough as the game remained goalless at the break.

On the hour mark, the Clarets had a penalty shout turned down when Hendrick went down under Lossl's trailing leg after rounding the goalkeeper.

The visitors had one late chance to try to claim a goal as Sam Vokes rose at the far post and directed a header into the path of Nakhi Wells, but Lossl was able to keep the ensuing effort out.

The result sees David Wagner's side remain 11th in the table, while Burnley now sit three points behind sixth-placed Arsenal, who have a game in hand.

Huddersfield (4-2-3-1): Lossl; Hadergjonaj (Smith 45'), Jorgensen, Schindler; Malone, Mooy, Hogg; Quaner (Williams 82'), Ince (Lolley 55'), van La Parra; Depoitre

Burnley (4-4-1-1): Pope; Bardsley, Long, Mee, Taylor; Gudmundsson, Defour, Cork, Arfield; Hendrick (Vokes 73'), Barnes (Wells 81')
