Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester City could line up for Saturday's Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Manchester City have no new injury concerns heading into Saturday's Premier League clash at home against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Citizens will be without Kyle Walker (groin) and Kalvin Phillips (shoulder), but John Stones has returned to first-team training following a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring problem, and he could feature in the matchday squad this weekend.

Unlike the vast majority of the Premier League, Pep Guardiola's side have been able to rest up this week ahead of Saturday's fixture, but the prospect of the Spaniard tinkering with his side cannot be ruled out.

In the 1-0 loss at Liverpool last weekend, City seemed to operate with a back three of Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake when in possession, with Joao Cancelo playing in an advanced wing-back role on the right flank.

Guardiola may continue with this setup, although Aymeric Laporte and Sergio Gomez will both be hoping to force their way into the first XI – the former of whom is yet to start in the Premier League this term.

Midfield quartet Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan were all handed starts last weekend and they could retain their places in the first XI if Guardiola sticks with the same system.

However, Guardiola could decide to drop either Bernardo or Gundogan and hand one of Jack Grealish or Riyad Mahrez a start in the front three.

In-form duo Phil Foden and Erling Braut Haaland, who saw their scoring runs come to an end against Liverpool, are expected to continue in attack, with the latter hoping to continue his fine form on home soil after scoring 10 goals in his last four league games at the Etihad.

Manchester City possible starting lineup: Ederson, Cancelo, Akanji, Laporte, Ake; De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo; Foden, Haaland, Grealish
