Parma edge past Palermo

Antonio Nocerino scores from the penalty spot as Parma earn a 1-0 victory over Palermo to at least delay their relegation from Serie A.

Parma claimed their third straight Serie A win at home by beating Palermo 1-0 at the Stadio Ennio Tardini this afternoon.

Midway through the first half, the hosts were awarded a penalty when Massimo Gobbi was brought down inside the box by Andrea Rispoli, and Antonio Nocerino made no mistake to convert from the spot.

Coda almost grabbed a second goal for Parma minutes later, but his effort was saved by by Samir Ujkani.

In the second half, Andrea Belotti came close to grabbing an equaliser for Palermo, but his close-range effort was beaten away by Antonio Mirante.

The visitors continued to press and Paulo Dybala saw a powerful effort kept out by the keeper, but they were unable to find the net as Parma held on to delay their relegation from the top flight.
