Preview: Doncaster Rovers vs. Crawley Town - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's League Two clash between Doncaster Rovers and Crawley Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

A struggling Crawley Town will make the visit North to Doncaster Rovers this weekend, with both sides desperate for a victory.

Winless in three, Doncaster currently reside in mid-table, whereas Crawley sit just two points above the relegation zone.

Match preview

Relegated from League One last season, Doncaster had started their return to League Two in strong form, only for a recent drop-off seeing them slip down the table.

A trio of defeats in their last three League Two outings has represented a worrying run of form for Doncaster – a run in which they have scored just one goal.

Prior to that run, Doncaster had picked up 14 points from their first six games, propelling them to as high up in the table as third.

By contrast, Crawley's start to the campaign had been torrid, up until a 3-2 victory over Stockport County two matches ago gave the Red Devils their first victory of the season.

Unable to back that win up against Crewe last weekend, Crawley's situation remains perilous, with a gap of just two points separating them from the drop zone.

Promoted into the Football League 11 years ago, Crawley have tasted the riches of League One in the past, but now face a tough season in order to avoid a return to non-league.

Any hopes of an end-to-end encounter may be squashed, given the pair's less-than entertaining head-to-head record.

Of their six previous meetings in the league, only twice has there been a victor, with Crawley and Doncaster both sharing just one win.

The other four games have all ended as draws, including a goalless stalemate in their most recent encounter five years ago.

Team News

Striker George Miller made his debut for Doncaster in the weekend defeat to Swindon Town and the 24-year-old is likely to retain his position up front.

Jon Taylor and Luke Molyneux will provide attacking threat from the wings, whereas Tommy Rowe will look to offer creativity from behind.

Without a clean sheet in the league since late August, Jonathan Mitchell will be given the nod between the sticks for the hosts.

Mazeed Ogungbo saw red early on during Crawley's mid-week defeat to AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Trophy, with the defender now forced to miss this weekend's visit to Doncaster.

In his place, Harry Ransom will be joined by Ludwig Francillette and Tony Craig in a back three for Crawley.

Doncaster Rovers possible starting lineup:
Mitchell; Knoyle, Faulkner, Williams, Maxwell; Rowe, Tomlin, Clayton; Molyneux, Miller, Taylor

Crawley Town possible starting lineup:
Addai; Francillette, Ransom, Craig; Fellows, Tilley, Hessenthaler, Balagizi, Tsaroulla; Telford, Nichols

We say: Doncaster Rovers 2-0 Crawley Town

Crawley have struggled so far this season and will be hoping to avoid another disappointing result on Saturday.

Doncaster too have struggled, but as the hosts, expect them to put things right with a win against Crawley this weekend.
