Man City injury, suspension news and return dates for Villa clash: Erling Haaland, Rodri, Ederson latest

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's Premier League fixture against Aston Villa.

Manchester City will be aiming to make it five wins from six in the Premier League when they welcome Aston Villa to the Etihad on Tuesday night.

City left it late to get over the line against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, with Nico O'Reilly and Mateo Kovacic firing late to seal a 2-0 success for Pep Guardiola's side.

That leaves the reigning champions in the driving seat to qualify for the Champions League next season, but the race remains tight, with five clubs all in the hunt.

Villa are one of those teams challenging City for the honour to play in Europe's top-tier competition, and here, Sports Mole rounds up City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their showdown with Unai Emery's side, who recorded a thumping 4-1 win over Newcastle United last time out.

Ederson

Status: Out
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: Unknown

First-choice stopper Ederson is facing a spell on the sidelines with a recurring groin problem that he aggravated against Palace in their last home outing, and there are fears that he could be missing for the majority of the rest of the season, after being absent in the win over Everton at the weekend.

Erling Haaland

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: May 10 (vs. Southampton)

Haaland picked up an injury in his left ankle during the FA Cup win away to Bournemouth at the end of March, with the City top scorer expected to return before the end of the season, but not until next month at the earliest.

Rodri

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Rodri picked up an ACL injury in the clash with Arsenal at home in September last year, and no new updates have emerged to suggest that he will feature in the Premier League again this season.

Nathan Ake

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: Unknown

Ake had surgery on a fracture in his left foot in March, and the current prognosis suggests it will be difficult for him to feature before the Premier League season is out.

John Stones

Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: May 18 (vs. Bournemouth)

After sustaining a thigh injury in the Champions League defeat to Real Madrid in February, Stones has been sidelined, with Guardiola expecting a return some time in May for the England defender.
