Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly among the clubs who are monitoring the situation with a Dynamo Kiev youngster ahead of the summer transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly identified a Dynamo Kiev youngster as a potential summer transfer target.

Despite losing back-to-back games against Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion, Wolves fans have been left encouraged by the direction that they are going under Vitor Pereira.

However, the Portuguese faces the prospect of losing at least one key player during the upcoming transfer windows with Matheus Cunha expected to depart in a £62.5m deal.

Rayan Ait-Nouri is another player who may move onto pastures new and Wolves would be expected to replace them with younger players with potential, which has been their business model in the past.

According to Ukraine journalist Mikhail Spivakovsky who is reporting via Dynamo.Kiev.UA, an unproven Ukrainian prospect is on their radar as they consider potential alternatives.

Surprise move for youngster in offing?

The report suggests that Matviy Ponomarenko is on Wolves' radar having seemingly been left impressed with his early showings for Dynamo Kiev.

A total of two goals have been netted from his first 13 appearances for the Ukrainian giants, all of which have come from the substitutes' bench.

Both strikes came in the top flight, but he was introduced during matches against Galatasaray and RFS in the Europa League in January.

Despite showcasing his potential, Dynamo Kiev are yet to tie the 19-year-old to a contract past January 2026, leaving them at risk of bigger clubs targeting a free transfer.

Ponomarenko has previously shone in UEFA Youth League fixtures, netting eight times in five games with one of his strikes coming against Atalanta BC.

Leicester City are also said to be monitoring the situation ahead of possibly trying to tempt Ponomarenko with better chances of regular football at the King Power Stadium.

Any competition?

Clubs from Spain, Portugal and Belgium are reportedly contemplating their own moves for Ponomarenko who will seemingly be left with a decision to make on his future.

If Dynamo Kiev are to agree fresh terms with him, it will need to come with the promise of more action having only accumulated 156 minutes of senior football as it stands.

Dynamo Kiev have until July to successfully a new deal or leave themselves open to the player holding discussions over pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs.
