Manchester City lynchpin Rodri is supposedly in line for a new contract that will see the Spaniard become the joint second-highest paid player at the club.
The reigning Ballon d'Or winner unexpectedly returned from a devastating cruciate ligament injury before the end of the 2024-25 season, coming off the bench in the Sky Blues' 3-1 win against Bournemouth on May 20.
Rodri is therefore expected to play a significant part in Man City's Club World Cup campaign, which sees Pep Guardiola's side taken on Wydad AC, Al Ain and Juventus in the group stage this month.
There have been few - if any - concerns about where Rodri's long-term future lies, although he will enter the last two years of his current deal at the Etihad Stadium this summer.
The Spain international last signed a new long-term extension in 2022, since when he has elevated his game to even greater heights, and City are keen to recognise his phenomenal feats.

According to The Mirror, the Sky Blues are prepared to tie Rodri down to a new deal that would see the ex-Atletico Madrid man pocket £300,000 a week for the next four years until 2029.
That would represent a £100,000 increase on the weekly £200k pay packet he currently earns in Manchester, and Rodri is expected to agree to City's proposal without any major issues.
A £300,000 salary would make Rodri the joint second-highest paid player at the club, as according to Capology, Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva also earn that exact amount per week.
However, both attackers have been linked with summer exits, while Kevin De Bruyne - whose weekly wage was £400,000 - will soon officially become a free agent when his contract expires.
Rodri could therefore start next season only behind Erling Haaland (£525k pw) on Man City's payroll, and his fresh terms will ward off interest from long-term admirers Real Madrid.
The 28-year-old allegedly left Man City's medical team 'astonished' by his rapid recovery from an ACL problem, and contract talks that have rumbled on for a year are finally about to reach a positive solution.
Rodri has contributed 26 goals and 31 assists from 261 appearances for Man City since his arrival from Atletico in 2019 and has won 11 major honours under Guardiola, including the Champions League and four Premier League crowns.

De Bruyne may have been miffed at City's decision not to renew his deal, but the Sky Blues have now cut an astronomical £19.2m from their yearly wage bill by offloading the legendary Belgian, and they are certainly putting those saved monies to good use.
Rodri's crushing injury coincided with the Sky Blues' unforeseen Premier League capitulation, but if the Spaniard can get back to even half or three-quarters of his optimum level next season, City will be challenging for the top honours again.
The Sky Blues' midfield ranks are also set to be boosted by the likely arrival of Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, while a move for Lyon's Rayan Cherki is also in the works.
