Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news and rumours, including defender signings for Ipswich Town and Atletico Madrid.

Ipswich Town have confirmed the signing of Ashley Young on a one-year contract.

Young, 40, made 36 appearances for Everton during the 2024-25 campaign, but he did not sign a new contract with the Toffees, with his time at Goodison Park coming to an end on June 30.

The former Manchester United attacker already has a new club, though, with Ipswich signing him for their 2025-26 Championship campaign.

“Ashley has had a fantastic career and his achievements speak for themselves,” Kieran McKenna told the club's official website.

“He has maintained an extremely high level of professionalism and competitiveness through his career and he is still playing at a very good level.

"We feel his leadership and experience will be valuable to the group this season and he is very hungry to contribute on and off the pitch. It’s a very strong signing for the group and the club.”

Young won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Community Shield and Europa League during his time at Man United, while he also lifted the Serie A title while representing Inter Milan.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement with Feyenoord over a deal for David Hancko.

The 27-year-old's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent months, with a number of clubs believed to be interested in signing the Slovakia international during this summer's transfer window.

However, Atletico are on the verge of securing his signature, with the La Liga giants set to pay a €30m (£26m) fixed fee plus add-ons, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

"Atletico de Madrid and Feyenoord have reached an agreement over the transfer of David Hancko to our club, pending the completion of the medical examination and the signing of his new contract," read a statement from Atletico.

Hancko has scored 15 times in 140 appearances for Feyenoord in all competitions, including four goals in 48 outings during the 2024-25 campaign.

Norwich confirm Schlupp arrival on a free transfer

Elsewhere, Norwich City have confirmed the signing of Jeffrey Schlupp on a free transfer.

The 32-year-old, who has been handed the number 27 shirt for his new club, has penned a contract with the Championship outfit until June 2026 following his release from Crystal Palace.

Schlupp told the club's official website: "I'm really excited, it's something new again but a lot to look forward to back in the Championship at a big club.

"I've spoken to the head coach about the plan for this year and I am excited to be involved. I'm looking forward to meeting all the players and hopefully we can create something special this year."

Meanwhile, sporting director Ben Knapper added: "Jeffrey’s career so far speaks for itself and we’re delighted to welcome him and his family to Norwich City.

“He is a player of immense experience having played at the highest levels both domestically and internationally for many years. His quality, versatility and character will all be great assets for us, and he will serve as a fantastic reference point for our younger players in particular this season.

“He will provide competition and depth across multiple positions, and we’re all really happy to have him as part of the group for the coming season."

Schlupp made 247 appearances for Palace following his arrival in 2017, but he featured on just 16 occasions for the Eagles last term, spending the second half of the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Celtic.
