Barcelona injury, suspension news vs. Real Madrid: Alejandro Balde, Jules Kounde, Inigo Martinez updates

Sports Mole looks at Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of their La Liga clash with Real Madrid.

Fresh from suffering heartache in the Champions League, Barcelona will resume their La Liga campaign with a home fixture against reigning Spanish champions Real Madrid on Sunday afternoon.

The Catalan giants lost 7-6 on aggregate to Inter Milan in the semi-finals of the European Cup, and their full attention is therefore on the league, with the team bidding to make it a domestic double this term.

Hansi Flick's side four points clear of second-placed Real Madrid in the La Liga table with four games left.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with Real Madrid, who will know the importance of claiming all three points in El Clasico.

Inigo Martinez

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Muscular fatigue
Possible return date: May 11 (vs. Real Madrid)

Martinez was forced off against Inter late on with a suspected hamstring issue, but it is understood that he was only suffering with muscular fatigue, with the Spaniard set to be available for selection in El Clasico.

Marc Bernal

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Bernal suffered an ACL injury against Rayo Vallecano in the league earlier this term, and he is out for the season, with the youngster working to be ready for pre-season ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Jules Kounde

Kounde was forced off the field with a hamstring injury during the first leg of the semi-final against Inter, and the France international is now in danger of missing the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.

Marc Casado

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: May 11 (vs. Real Madrid)

Casado picked up a knee injury during the La Liga clash with Atletico Madrid before the March international break, but he is now back in training and on course to be available in the near future, with a return this weekend a possibility.

Alejandro Balde

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: May 11 (vs. Real Madrid)

Balde suffered a hamstring injury during the recent La Liga clash with Leganes, and he again missed out against Inter on Tuesday, but a return for El Clasico is a possibility, as he was back in training on Thursday.

Pablo Torre

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: May 11 (vs. Real Madrid)

Torre was ruled out of last weekend's La Liga clash against Real Valladolid due to a knee injury, and he was also absent against Inter, so he will need to be assessed ahead of El Clasico.
