Bayern Munich have completed the signing of defender Jonathan Tah on a free transfer from Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen.
The 29-year-old announced last month that he would be leaving the BayArena upon the expiration of his contract at the end of June after making over 400 appearances across a 10-year period at the club.
Tah was linked with a host of top European clubs including Premier League trio Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.
However, the 35-cap Germany international has decided to continue his career in his homeland and has put pen to paper on a four-year contract at Bayern Munich that runs until June 2029.
Tah will don the No.4 shirt for the German champions which was last worn by fellow centre-back Matthijs de Ligt before he joined Man United in the summer of 2024.
"I'm very happy to be at FC Bayern," Tah told the club's official website. "I want to take on responsibility here and work hard every day so that we're successful as a team and win lots of trophies together."

Bayern confirm "important addition" of Tah on four-year deal
Reacting to the defender's arrival, Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said: "We're delighted to welcome Jonathan Tah to FC Bayern. As an experienced international and leader, he brings the consistency and quality that will strengthen our defence. He's a real gain for us – and he's also proven that he can win titles.
Board member for sport Max Eberl, added: "It's no secret that we've had Jonathan Tah on our radar for a long time. We appreciate his quality: he's a character who takes on responsibility. Jonathan had a lot of offers but chose FC Bayern, which pleases us very much."
Sporting director Christoph Freund, continued "In Jonathan Tah we've acquired a player with international experience and quality, who won't need much time to establish himself in our defence. He'll be a good and important addition for us with his technical qualities as well as his manner and the way he leads."
Tah has become Bayern's second signing of the summer after teenage midfielder Tom Bischof, who agreed to join Vincent Kompany's side in January when his contract at Hoffenheim expires next month.
After helping Leverkusen win their first-ever Bundesliga title in a remarkable 'invincibles' season in 2023-24, Tah is now joining the reigning German top-flight champions who finished 13 points clear of Die Werkself to top the 2024-25 standings.
Tah's arrival comes after the departure of Eric Dier, who has completed a switch to Ligue 1 club Monaco, and he is set to compete with fellow centre-backs Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min-jae and Hiroki Ito for regular starts under Kompany next season.
