Newcastle United are reportedly preparing a bid for Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo, as the Magpies look to beat Manchester United to the signature of the 25-year-old during this summer's transfer window.
Mbeumo had an outstanding 2024-25 campaign for the Bees, scoring 20 goals and registering eight assists in 38 Premier League appearances, and he is expected to leave Thomas Frank's side this summer.
Man United have been named as potential suitors for the Cameroon international by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has said on his official YouTube channel: "I can confirm that Man Utd appreciate Bryan Mbeumo at Brentford. A player who did fantastic with 20 goals this season in [the] Premier League.
"Top player, really big mentality. Also fits what they want to do in the strategy at Man Utd. So players who can be for the future but [are] also ready to make [an] instant impact to help Ruben Amorim for the new season.
"[Matheus] Cunha is like them, Premier League proven, European experience, international player with Brazil. [He] knows how to handle the pressure and also how to add numbers, assists and goals. So that's going to be really important.

Newcastle 'aiming to beat' Man United to Mbeumo deal
"And then there is Bryan Mbeumo. Because he is a player they appreciate. As I told you, Man Utd want to add one more player behind the striker. That's going to be a mission for Man Utd.
"But it depends on the outgoings. [Alejandro] Garnacho is for sure a topic, Marcus Rashford, back to the club. £40m, he can be available. Jadon Sancho, let's see what happens.
"Outgoings means money. And if they have enough money, Mbeumo is one of the players they have on their list at No 10. He is not the only one, because there are more clubs interested. But for sure, the interest is genuine."
However, according to The Telegraph, Newcastle are well-placed to sign the Brentford attacker, with Eddie Howe's side currently preparing to make an offer for his services.
The report claims that Mbeumo will likely cost between £50m and £60m, and Newcastle could take advantage of the fact that Man United are currently looking to complete a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers' Matheus Cunha.

Newcastle also 'lining up' Guehi bid
Newcastle are also allegedly preparing to make an offer for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.
Guehi's future was the subject of much speculation during last summer's transfer window, with Newcastle believed to have made at least four offers for the England international.
The final bid is believed to have been in the region of £65m, but it was not enough for Palace to let him leave, and the 24-year-old has had another strong campaign for the Eagles, helping them to lift the FA Cup.
The centre-back will soon enter the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, though, and Newcastle are said to be keeping a close eye on the situation with a view to bringing him to St James' Park before the end of the summer transfer window.
Newcastle will play in the Champions League next season, having finished fifth in the Premier League table, but Man United ended the campaign in 15th and will have no European football on offer in 2025-26.
