Wolverhampton Wanderers announce that they have released midfielder Bruno Jordao from his contract by mutual consent.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have allowed midfielder Bruno Jordao to leave the club with immediate effect.

In 2019, Jordao was one of two then-relatively-unknown Portuguese players - the other being Pedro Neto - to make the switch to Molineux.

However, while Neto has gone on to establish himself as a key player with Wolves, Jordao has endured contrasting fortunes during his time contracted to the West Midlands outfit.

The former Portugal Under-21 international would make just five senior appearances for Wolves, with all but one of those outings coming during 2019-20.

Jordao's solitary Premier League outing came on the final day of that coronavirus-hit campaign, featuring for the closing 12 minutes of a defeat to Chelsea.

Since then, the bulk of his time has been spent on the continent with three different clubs in Famalicao, FC Zurich and Santa Clara.

In total, Jordao made a total of 34 appearances across those three loan periods, most recently playing 11 times for Santa Clara in Primeira Liga.

Nevertheless, the 25-year-old has spent the current campaign representing Wolves Under-21s, making two appearances in the EFL Trophy and a further eight outings in Premier League 2.

Wolves had hoped to find a new club for Jordao in January at a time when they were actively looking to reduce their wage bill.

Although a suitable offer failed to materialise, Wolves have now taken the decision to mutually terminate Jordao's contract to allow him to find a new club.
