Wolverhampton Wanderers announce they have completed a double deadline day deal worth £27m for Nasser Djiga and Marshall Munetsi.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that they have completed a deal for Red Star Belgrade defender Nasser Djiga.

The Premier League side have been searching for a second new central-back throughout the winter transfer window after the arrival of Emmanuel Agbadou from Reims.

After a prolonged search that saw them edged out by Tottenham Hotspur for Kevin Danso, Wolves have settled on the addition of Burkina Faso international Djiga on a long-term contract.

Djiga has penned a contract until the end of the 2029-30 campaign in a transfer that is allegedly worth in the region of £10m.

Well-travelled Djiga switches to Premier League

Despite being just 22 years of age, Djiga has accumulated a total of 99 appearances for Nimes, Basel and Red Star Belgrade, 14 of those outings coming in the main stages of the Champions League.

Njiga featured in 3-1 and 3-2 defeats to Manchester City during 2023-24, while he completed the 90 minutes as Red Star defeated Stuttgart and Young Boys in his year's competition.

He also helped the Serbian outfit complete a league and cup double, as well as making 14 starts during Red Star's unbeaten start to the top-flight season in 2024-25.

Having played at European football's top table as recently as January 29, Djiga will now look to put himself in contention for Sunday's FA Cup fourth round tie at Blackburn Rovers.

Twenty-five minutes later...

Less than half-an-hour later, Wolves announced that they had also finalised the signing of Reims midfielder Marshall Munetsi.

Although a transfer fee has not been disclosed, it has been widely alleged that Wolves are acquiring the Zimbabwe international for a fee of £16.6m.

The 28-year-old leaves Reims having contributed 21 goals and 14 assists from his 159 appearances, all of his numbers in the final third coming in Ligue 1.

Munetsi has twice completed 90 minutes versus Paris Saint-Germain this season and played his part in two 1-1 draws, also featuring in a stalemate with Monaco.
