Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold reportedly agrees personal terms with Spanish giants Real Madrid ahead of a potential free transfer.

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly agreed personal terms with Spanish giants with Real Madrid.

Alexander-Arnold is one of three Liverpool stars who is out of contract at the end of the season, along with captain Virgil van Dijk and key forward Mohamed Salah.

Having entered the final six months of their respective deals, all three players are allowed to speak to overseas clubs about signing a pre-contract agreement.

Alexander-Arnold has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, who are keen to bolster their current right-back options.

Carlo Ancelotti's side have been left light in that position ever since Dani Carvajal sustained a season-ending knee injury in October.

Alexander-Arnold agrees Real Madrid contract

While Caravajal should return for the start of the 2025-26 campaign, Real Madrid will be wary of the fact that he is now 33, as well as some concern about how long it may take him to reach his best form following an extended spell on the sidelines.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Alexander-Arnold has made a commitment to sign for Real Madrid when his Liverpool contract expires this summer.

Alexander-Arnold reached an agreement with the reigning European champions over personal terms in recent weeks.

As a result, the England international will join the Spanish club on a five-year deal when he becomes a free agent on July 1.

The report suggests that the right-back will earn around €15m (£12.5m) gross per season, with his deal including performance-related add-ons as well as a signing-on fee.

Who will replace Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool?

Liverpool made numerous attempts to agree a new deal with their academy product, but he has decided that he wants to try a fresh challenge with Real Madrid.

Alexander-Arnold's departure could present Conor Bradley with the chance to become Arne Slot's first-choice right-back at Anfield.

With that said, Liverpool will still be keen to bolster the right side of their defence, with Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong believed to be among their list of targets.

In fact, the Reds are understood to be in pole position to sign the Netherlands international, who currently plays under former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso at the BayArena.
