Barcelona vs. Real Valladolid: Head-to-head record and past meetings

Ahead of Saturday's La Liga clash between Barcelona and Valladolid, Sports Mole looks at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two clubs.

Barcelona will be aiming to make it four wins from four matches at the start of their 2024-25 La Liga campaign when they welcome Real Valladolid to Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on Saturday afternoon.

Hansi Flick's side have beaten Valencia, Athletic Bilbao and Rayo Vallecano in their opening three games of the new season to sit at the top of the table on nine points.

The Catalan outfit, who finished second behind Real Madrid in Spain's top flight last term, will now be eyeing another victory ahead of the September international break.

Here, Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two sides, as they prepare to lock horns at Barcelona's temporary home.

Head-to-head record

Previous meetings: 98
Barcelona wins: 65
Draws: 16
Valladolid wins: 17

Unsurprisingly, this has been a fixture dominated by Barcelona throughout the years, with the Catalan giants winning 65 of the previous 98 meetings between the two sides, suffering just 17 defeats in the process, while there have also been 16 draws.

Laszlo Kubala is the all-time leading goalscorer in this fixture, having netted 13 times for Barcelona against Real Valladolid, while Lionel Messi is third on the list with eight goals, just behind nine-goal Julio Salinas.

Barcelona have scored 227 goals in their 98 games with Real Valladolid, conceding 84, with the vast majority of their meetings taking place in Spain's top flight.

The Catalan giants have won 61 of their 92 league games against Real Valladolid, losing 15 and drawing 16, scoring 210 goals in the process, while they have conceded 77 La Liga goals to this weekend's opponents.

Despite history favouring Barcelona, Real Valladolid actually recorded a 3-1 victory when the two teams last locked horns in May 2023, with Cyle Larin and Gonzalo Plata on the scoresheet for the hosts after Andreas Christensen had put through his own net, and Barcelona could only manage a late consolation through Robert Lewandowski.

Real Valladolid's last three wins over Barcelona have come on home soil, and they have not managed to overcome the Catalan team away from home since November 1997, which is an indication of the size of their task this weekend.

Barcelona had been on a seven-game winning run against the White and Violets before the reverse during the 2022-23 season, and Real Valladolid will now be looking to make it back-to-back successes over Barcelona for just the third time in their history, with that last occurring back in 1997.

Barcelona beat Real Valladolid 4-0 when the two teams last locked horns at Camp Nou in August 2022, but this match will be taking place at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.
