Aston Villa take until shortly before 1am on Tuesday morning to announce that they have finalised a loan deal for a Chelsea defender.

Aston Villa have confirmed they have sealed a loan deal for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi.

The future of the Frenchman was a hot topic for debate across the final week of the transfer window, Villa heavily reported to be favourites to seal his signature.

Despite Tottenham Hotspur twice registering an interest in the former Monaco star, the 26-year-old is said to have only had eyes for the West Midlands.

For Chelsea's part, it was alleged that they were initially against allowing Disasi to link up with Unai Emery's side courtesy of them being rivals for Champions League qualification.

Nevertheless, at 12.57am on Tuesday morning, Villa took to social media to announce that they had acquired the new centre-back that Emery had demanded.

What are the terms of Disasi's loan?

While the details have not been officially disclosed, it is claimed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano that a straight loan deal has been finalised.

As well as Disasi's wages being fully covered by Villa, Chelsea will reportedly receive a £5m loan fee for the France international.

Disasi becomes the third high-profile addition made by Villa across the last 36 hours, with Marcus Rashford having joined on loan from Manchester United on Sunday night.

Paris Saint-Germain attacker Marco Asensio became the second arrival on Monday evening, the Spain international adding further competition in the final third.

Villa had money to spend courtesy of Jhon Duran's £64m transfer to Saudi Pro League side last week.

A vital signing for Villa?

Disasi has essentially been signed as a replacement for Diego Carlos, who has been sold to Fenerbahce, but Emery has bene left short in central defence in recent weeks.

Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings are currently sidelined through injury, leaving Ezri Konsa as the only fit player for the position and the likes of Boubacar Kamara and Lamare Bogarde being called upon to deputise.

With one of Disasi's 17 appearances for Chelsea this campaign having come in the FA Cup, he will be ineligible for Sunday's tie against Tottenham Hotspur.

Furthermore, a game with parent club Chelsea is to come on February 22, essentially meaning that Disasi will only be available for the February 15 fixture against Ipswich Town on February 15 between now and February 25.
