Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly make contact with Nuremberg over a potential move for Germany Under-21 international Caspar Jander.

Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly made contact over a potential move for Nuremberg midfielder Caspar Jander.

The 22-year-old is in his first season as a Nuremberg player after arriving on a free transfer following his Duisburg exit last summer.

Jander has established himself as a key player in the Nurnberg squad, having started all 25 league games that he has been available for.

The midfielder has contributed to Nuremberg's attacking efforts in the 2.Bundesliga, contributing three goals and six assists.

Jander's performances at club level earned him a call-up to the Germany Under-21 squad for the recent international window, where he made his debut in a 1-0 win over Slovakia Under-21s.

The midfielder will now be focused on his Nuremberg's promotion bid, with his side sitting four points adrift of the top three ahead of Sunday's meeting with Jahn Regensburg.

However, there appears to be some doubt as to whether Jander will still be with Nuremberg next season, especially if they fail to win promotion to the Bundesliga.

According to Bild, Brentford and Wolves have made contact with Nuremberg as they weigh up a potential move for the Germany Under-21 international.

Belgian side Club Brugge have also made contact over a potential deal, while the report also claims that Jander is attracting interest from half the teams in the Bundesliga.

How much could Jander cost?

Bayer Leverkusen are said to be among Jander's admirers, although they have cooled their interest after being told that they will need to pay €20m (£16.7m) to sign the Nuremberg man.

Nuremberg are under no immediate pressure to sell Jander due to the fact that he has a long-term contract until the summer of 2028.

There is also a possibility that the 2.Bundesliga club will be reluctant to part ways with a player that they only signed last summer.
