Harvey Elliott has refused to rule out the prospect of leaving Liverpool in the future, but he would ideally like to stay at Anfield and fight for his place in the first team.
The versatile midfielder burst onto the scene with Fulham as a 15-year-old before joining Liverpool in the summer of 2019, and then spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan at Championship side Blackburn Rovers.
Since then, Elliott has made 143 senior appearances for Liverpool across all competitions, chipping in with 14 goals and 19 assists as well as winning six trophies, including two EFL Cups.
The 22-year-old has also won his first Premier League title this season, but he has not started a single top-flight game under manager Arne Slot, making 14 appearances off the substitutes' bench.
It was reported in January that clubs including Brighton & Hove Albion and Borussia Dortmund were alerted to Elliott's lack of game time and have been keeping tabs on his situation at Anfield.
Newcastle United have since emerged as a potential suitor for the England Under-21 international, but the priority for him is to stay at Liverpool, potentially for the rest of his career.

Elliott wants to stay at "best club" Liverpool, but future is out of his hands
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo about his future, Elliott said: "Hopefully I am still here to be honest. It is the best place to be, the best club to be at and, especially having the fans around us at the moment, I don't think there is a better place to be playing.
"Players go through ups and downs but, at the end of the day, you have to come out fighting and I think it is within myself to make it happen, so hopefully I can stay here for the rest of my career.
"I hope I can push on [next season]. This is my team, I am committed to them and it's just a situation that is always going to have a lot of talk.
"I just need to think about what is best for my future, my career and, as much as I want it to be here, you never know what is going to happen around the corner.
"If I had it my way, that would be here, I would play each and every game here and stay here for the rest of my career but it all depends on managers, the people above and, as I said, you don't know what could happen. But as far as I am aware, I am here to stay and this is the club I want to be at."
It is understood that Liverpool could entertain offers between £40m and £50m for Elliott, who has two years remaining on his contract at Anfield, but Newcastle are unlikely to meet their asking price.
Whether Liverpool wish to keep hold of Elliott remains to be seen, as the Merseysiders are allegedly willing to give Slot significant funds to strengthen his squad this summer to help the club defend their Premier League title and compete for other major honours.
