Liverpool summer transfer plans revealed as Arne Slot plans 'three signings' for Premier League title defence

Liverpool may be Premier League champions but they show no signs of slowing down amid reports that they could be set to add three players to their squad in the summer.

Liverpool's ownership group are said to have committed significant funds to boss Arne Slot ahead of their Premier League title defence in 2025-26.

The Reds secured their top-flight crown with their 5-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, winning their second Premier League title.

Despite the club's successes, there are areas in which the team could be improved, with strikers Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota both failing to impress this season.

Left-back Andrew Robertson has also had his place in the XI come into question, and it would not be surprising if they looked to make a number of additions in preparation of the 2025-26 season.

The Daily Mail claims that owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) will provide Slot with the funds to sign a striker, a left-back and a centre-back in the summer transfer window, while a midfielder may also be targeted.

The need for a striker assessed

While Mohamed Salah looks certain to win both the Golden Boot and the Playmaker of the Season award given he leads the way in both categories in the league - 28 goals and 18 assists - the team have arguably been too reliant on his brilliance.

Nunez and Jota have only scored a combined 11 goals, and considering the former's inconsistencies and the latter's injury history, Slot may not be able to rely on the pair next season.

It should also be noted that Salah will be 33 years old by the time 2025-26 gets under way, and it remains to be seen if he can keep producing at his current rate.

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike has been linked with a move to Anfield, and his ability to link play and receive the ball in small pockets of space could help the Reds sustain attacks in the final third.

The need for defensive reinforcements assessed

Robertson is 31 years old and has arguably declined considerably from a defensive perspective, and while he may have plenty to offer as a rotational option, he will likely need to be phased out of the team.

The Reds have been credited with an interest in Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez, and his relentless nature makes him a good stylistic replacement for Robertson.

Elsewhere, Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate has enjoyed an exceptional season, but with his contract set to enter its final year in the summer, the club may be forced to sell him sooner rather than later.

Should the Frenchman depart, Slot could turn to Kerkez's teammate Dean Huijsen, who is just 20 years old but has demonstrated immense ability on the ball.
