Cardiff City see off Blackpool thanks to an Eoin Doyle double

Two penalties from Eoin Doyle and a goal from Joe Mason help Cardiff City beat already-relegated Blackpool.

Two penalties from Eoin Doyle and a goal from Joe Mason helped Cardiff City edge past already-relegated Blackpool in the Championship.

The game started quietly until Mason put the home side in front. Doyle's cross found the striker via a deflection and the Irishman managed to turn in a tight spot to rifle the ball into the back of the net.

Doyle doubled Cardiff's lead by sending Elliot Parish the wrong way from the penalty spot, after Henry Cameron fouled Aron Gunnarsson in the area.

Blackpool grabbed a goal back just after the break when Andrea Orlandi, who came on at half time, was given time and space to fire low into the corner of the net.

Jamie O'Hara was then shown a yellow card for the Seasiders for his part in a melee also involving Dom Telford and David Marshall.

Doyle grabbed his second penalty of the afternoon after Miles Addison barged Mason off the ball, tucked the spot kick away with ease.

Peter Clarke grabbed Blackpool's second late into injury time by slotting in an O'Hara cross, but the damage had already been done.

The 3-2 win sees Cardiff rise to 13th in the Championship table.
