Barcelona allegedly identify five potential targets to replace Jules Kounde if the defender departs the Catalan giants during the summer transfer window.

Barcelona have reportedly identified five potential replacements for defender Jules Kounde.

Since turning down Chelsea to move to Camp Nou in 2022, Kounde has established himself as a valuable member of the senior squad.

The former Sevilla defender has six goals and 18 assists to his name - largely from right-back - with a total of 131 appearances having been made in all competitions.

However, the France international has reached a stage where he has just over two years remaining on his contract and club officials are eager to agree an extension.

As per Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will be prepared to cash in on the 26-year-old if he does not pen fresh terms over the coming months.

Five alternatives identified?

The report alleges that a total of five players have been placed on a shortlist as club officials contemplate how they may replacement Kounde.

Monaco's Vanderson is allegedly viewed as the most suitable option courtesy of his impressive performances for the Ligue 1 outfit.

Vanderson, who can play all down the right flank, has made 118 appearances for Monaco, chipping in with eight goals and 13 assists while also developing into a full Brazil international.

If Barcelona make their move, Monaco are said to be ready to demand at least £33.5m, consequently leading the Spanish side to consider their options.

Flamengo's Wesley Franca - also a Brazil international - is another right-back said to be on Barcelona's radar at this time having become a mainstay at his current club.

Could Barcelona look closer to home?

Meanwhile, the other three names said to be under consideration all ply their trade in La Liga with Rayo Vallecano, Almeria and Celta Vigo.

Romania international Andrei Ratiu has vast experience of Spanish football and is currently excelling for Vallencao, yet he could cost in excess of £20m.

Spain Under-21 international Marc Pubill could be viewed as one for the future, but he is currently starring for Almeria in the second tier.

Former Barcelona academy graduate Oscar Mingueza is allegedly also an option, with the 25-year-old having contributed with three goals and five assists for Celta Vigo in La Liga this campaign and already having attracted the interest of Aston Villa.
