Sports Mole identifies three right-backs that Manchester United could potentially sign during this summer's transfer window.

Manchester United would reportedly look to sign a new right-back during this summer's transfer window if Aaron Wan-Bissaka were to depart.

Diogo Dalot finished last season as the club's first-choice right-back, and the Portugal international is seemingly firmly in the plans of new Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag for the new campaign.

The same cannot be said for Wan-Bissaka, though, with Ten Hag said to have made the 24-year-old surplus to requirements at Old Trafford ahead of the new season.

A recent report claimed that Man United would be in the market for a new right-back this summer if the club were successful in offloading Wan-Bissaka, who has struggled to contribute as an attacking outlet during his time in Manchester.

Here, Sports Mole looks at three players that the club could sign this summer to provide competition for Dalot during the 2022-23 campaign.

Denzel Dumfries (Inter Milan)

Ten Hag is said to be an admirer of Denzel Dumfries, with the Netherlands international impressing for Inter Milan last season following his arrival from PSV Eindhoven.

The 26-year-old was a key player for his Italian club during the 2021-22 campaign, contributing five goals and seven assists in 45 appearances in all competitions.

There have been claims that a fee in the region of €30m (£26m) would be enough to convince Inter to sell, though, with the Italian giants looking to reduce their wage bill.

Dumfries starred for PSV before his move to San Siro, so Ten Hag will be very familiar with the defender, and the fact that he can play as a wing-back would open up different options for Man United next season.

The Dutchman scored five goals and provided five assists in 33 Serie A appearances during the 2021-22 campaign, while he featured on seven occasions in the Champions League.

Benjamin Pavard (Bayern Munich)

Benjamin Pavard's future at Bayern Munich has recently been called into question, with the France international said to be considering seeking a move away during the current window.

A recent report claimed that an offer in the region of €35m (£29.9m) would be considered by the Munich giants, with the 26-year-old only having two years left to run on his contract.

The Frenchman was again a key player for Bayern during the 2021-22 campaign, making 36 appearances in all competitions, contributing two assists in the process.

Pavard's ability to play as a central defender makes him an even more attractive proposition for Man United, although the club's lack of Champions League football for next season could make it difficult for them to convince the defender to make the move to Old Trafford.

The defender has made 119 appearances for his current side since arriving from Stuttgart in 2019, contributing five goals and 11 assists in the process.

Tariq Lamptey (Brighton & Hove Albion)

Tariq Lamptey was strongly linked with Man United earlier this year, although talk of a potential switch to Old Trafford for the Brighton & Hove Albion defender has quietened in recent months.

The 21-year-old has impressed for the Seagulls since arriving from Chelsea in January 2020, with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both said to be interested in his signature.

Lamptey provided two assists in 32 appearances for Brighton last season after recovering from the hamstring problem that forced him to miss the start of the campaign.

The defender has now played 51 times for the Seagulls in all competitions, contributing one goal and six assists, and he would be regarded as a long-term investment for Man United.

Brighton have already allowed Yves Bissouma to leave this summer for Tottenham Hotspur, though, while Marc Cucurella is being strongly linked with Manchester City, so it could be very difficult for the Red Devils to convince Graham Potter's side to sell the former Chelsea youngster.
