Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag discusses Marcus Rashford's disappointing form ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Luton Town.

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has admitted that neither Marcus Rashford nor the club are happy with the forward's form during the 2023-24 campaign.

The England international excelled for the Red Devils last season, scoring 30 goals and registering 11 assists in 56 appearances in all competitions.

Rashford has struggled this term, though, only managing one goal and three assists in 15 appearances, and he was sent off in the first half of Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Copenhagen in the Champions League.

Ten Hag was asked about the attacker's struggles during his press conference to preview Saturday's Premier League contest with Luton Town at Old Trafford.

"He is not happy. We are not happy. He has high expectations from himself, at the moment he is not in his best form but I know he will be back," the manager told reporters when asked about the 26-year-old.

"In this moment, he's not in his best form, but I know he will be back. When the team is playing better, he will play better, he will score goals, I'm confident of that, so yeah, also this season he will improve and score.

"He's totally in the team and aware of everything. He will be back on track and it can happen very quickly. Sometimes you only need one game and I'm sure he will get there."

Man United have now lost nine times in all competitions this season, with five of those coming in the Premier League, and there will be pressure on Ten Hag to deliver a positive result against Luton.

"It's about the end result and we have to win every game, so we are very disappointed. Finally it's about the end result and it's always about a process, thinking about it and then managing the process, which is what I focus on," the manager added on Friday afternoon.

"I think we often proved we can, like at Fulham, Brentford, this team can overcome big setbacks."

Ten Hag also said that his side will have to be at their best in order to overcome Luton, who drew 1-1 with Liverpool in the Premier League last weekend.

"I think they have had some good performances and results. We're aware of that and there's no easy game in the Premier League. You must be at your best and we have to be 100% focused to win," he said.

Despite Man United's issues in the league this season, they are only six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal in the table heading into the next set of fixtures.

The Red Devils will take on Luton and Everton in England's top flight either side of the November international break before travelling to Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Man United will then begin December with three straight league games against Newcastle United, Chelsea and Bournemouth before hosting Bayern Munich in their final match in the group stage of the Champions League.
