Manchester United attacker Bruno Fernandes brands Paul Pogba "an important player" for the Red Devils.

Manchester United attacker Bruno Fernandes branded Paul Pogba "an important player" for the Red Devils following the Frenchman's performance against Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.

Fernandes scored a hat-trick in the 5-1 win over the Whites, while Pogba registered four assists during a strong display that also saw Mason Greenwood and Fred find the back of the net.

Pogba's future at Old Trafford continues to be called into question, with his contract at the club due to expire next summer.

Speaking after the thumping win over Leeds, Fernandes said that his teammate's quality is "not in discussion", and the club should "expect these kind of performances" from the France international.

"People talk about the quality of Paul, but his quality is not in discussion. We know what he can do and today he showed that. He's an important player for us. We know to expect these kind of performances from Paul," Fernandes told BT Sport.

Man United will be looking to make it back-to-back wins at the start of the new Premier League season when they travel to Southampton next weekend.
