Fulham are reportedly holding internal discussions about whether to pursue a summer move to re-sign Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Fulham have reportedly held internal discussions over a potential move to re-sign Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Portugal international Palhinha spent two seasons at Craven Cottage, making 79 appearances in all competitions before completing a move to Bayern Munich last summer.

The 28-year-old joined the German giants in a deal worth around £47m, signing a new contract until the summer of 2028.

However, he is already been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena after failing to establish himself on Vincent Kompany's side.

Palhinha has been restricted to nine starts of his 22 competitive appearances, including just six starts in 15 Bundesliga matches.

Fulham discuss Palhinha return

According to Football Insider, Fulham have held 'internal talks' about the possibility of bringing Palhinha back to the club just one year after his departure.

The report claims that the Portuguese midfielder is open to the prospect of returning to the Premier League this summer.

Fulham are said to be keen to strengthen Marco Silva's options, especially as there is a chance they may have to build a squad that can balance European football with the club's domestic fixtures.

The Cottagers are currently sitting in eighth place in the Premier League table, which could become a European spot depending on a number of factors.

Conflicting report provides insight into Palhinha's future

While Fulham may be keen to re-sign their former player, another report indicates that the Cottagers will have their work cut out to bring him back to the club this summer.

As per journalist Florian Plettenburg, Palhinha has no plans to leave Bayern and is determined to force his way into the starting lineup.

The former Fulham man will only consider leaving the Allianz Arena if Bayern make it clear that he has no future at the club.

From Bayern's perspective, they are not actively looking to sell Palhinha, although they could be open to a sale if they receive an enticing offer.
