Half-Time Report: Brentford score on stroke of half time to lead

Andre Gray scores on the stroke of half time to put Brentford 1-0 up against Rotherham United.

Despite hitting the bar at either end of the first half, Rotherham United find themselves 1-0 down at home to Brentford in their Championship clash at the New York Stadium.

The visitors had the first chance of the game as Andre Gray forced Adam Collin into a strong save with a curling effort from 20 yards.

Two minutes later, Kirk Broadfoot rattled the crossbar with a powerful header before David Button pushed Ben Pringle's rebound over the bar.

Matt Derbyshire sent a long-range strike over the bar as the game entered a bit of a lull after a frenetic opening, while Alex Pritchard sent a diving header over the bar following a deep cross by Alan Judge.

Judge continued to be a source of danger for the away side and flashed a shot just wide of the far post after a neat one-two with a teammate.

Gray and Derbyshire then had chances for either side, but both strikers snatched at their chances.

Rotherham were unlucky not to take the lead on the stroke of half time when Paul Taylor's powerful drive cannoned back off the bar and just two minutes later, the visitors put themselves ahead.

Gray collected the ball as the Bees counter-attacked the home side and sent a curling shot around the diving Collin to make it 1-0 to Brentford.
