Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester United could line up for Thursday's Europa League last-16 first leg with Real Betis.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag ought to ring the changes for Thursday's Europa League last-16 first leg against Real Betis at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils were humiliated 7-0 by Liverpool in Sunday's Premier League clash, a defeat which Donny van de Beek, Christian Eriksen and Anthony Martial all missed with their long-term injuries.

Victor Lindelof also sat out that Anfield mauling due to a minor unspecified problem and will need assessing, while Marcel Sabitzer has been ruled out, but Casemiro will seemingly be fine despite picking up a scare of his own.

However, with the Brazilian one booking away from incurring a continental ban, Ten Hag should view Thursday's game as the ideal time to rest him, allowing Scott McTominay to return to the engine room alongside Fred.

Further forward, Bruno Fernandes can expect to keep his place despite coming under swathes of criticism for his painfully toothless showing at Anfield.

Amid calls for the Portuguese to be stripped of captaincy duties, he may hand the armband back over to Harry Maguire either way, as the Englishman fights to return over Raphael Varane, who emerged as a last-minute injury doubt before the Liverpool defeat.

Only Lisandro Martinez and David de Gea could hold their spots in the backline, as Tyrell Malacia and Aaron Wan-Bissaka should feel confident of displacing Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot.

Antony and Wout Weghorst could also cede their places to Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho, as Marcus Rashford seeks to return to goalscoring ways in the number nine spot.

Manchester United possible starting lineup: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Martinez, Malacia; Fred, McTominay; Sancho, Fernandes, Garnacho; Rashford
