Liverpool will have the chance to equal a 64-year-old goalscoring record when they face Crystal Palace on the final day of the Premier League season.

Liverpool will have the chance to achieve a 64-year-old goalscoring record in Sunday's Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.

The final matchday of the season will see the Premier League champions go up against the FA Cup winners in what should be a day of celebration.

Liverpool will certainly be in a party mood because they will get the chance to lift the Premier League trophy following Sunday's meeting at Anfield.

Before Virgil van Dijk gets his hands on the silverware, the Reds will attempt to record their first victory since their title-winning 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the end of April.

They have taken just one point since that emphatic victory, losing away games against Chelsea and Brighton on either side of a 2-2 home draw against Arsenal.

Liverpool targeting 64-year-old record

Arne Slot's side gave up a 2-1 half-time lead to fall to a narrow 3-2 defeat in Monday's meeting with Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

While they left the South coast empty-handed, the loss represented the 31st time that Liverpool have scored two goals or more in the Premier League this season.

As a result, they now have the chance to equal the top-flight record for the most games with multiple goals scored in a single season.

Man United scored two or more goals in 32 top-flight matches in the 1956-57 season to set the current record, which Tottenham equalled in the 1960-61 campaign.

Liverpool will surely fancy their chances of equalling the record, having scored multiple goals in 16 of their 18 home league games this season.

Salah eyeing record

Mohamed Salah has one final chance to equal the Premier League record for goal involvements in a single season.

Having scored 28 goals and provided 18 assists in 37 league matches, Salah needs one goal contribution to equal the current record of 47, which is currently shared by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer.

Salah will know that two goal contributions on Sunday will break the record, although he has failed to register a goal or assist since he scored in the 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Egypt international has also failed to deliver a goal contribution in four of his last five appearances against Palace.
