Liverpool 'ready to match £55m Chelsea bid for Romeo Lavia'

Liverpool have reportedly shown a willingness to match Chelsea's proposed £55m offer for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.
Over the past 24 hours, the two Big Six sides have engaged in a gripping transfer tussle for the signature of Brighton & Hove Albion's Moises Caicedo, who was the subject of a successful £110m offer from the Reds.
However, as Liverpool were preparing to welcome Caicedo to Kirkby for a medical, they were allegedly informed that the Ecuadorian only wanted to join Chelsea, with whom he has already agreed personal terms.
While Chelsea have supposedly still not tabled a bid to Brighton's satisfaction, the Blues are thought to be edging closer to a £115m transfer, dealing Liverpool another blow in their search for a new number six.
Wolves announce new contract for Max Kilman
Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced that Max Kilman has signed a new contract, rejecting a move to Napoli in the process.
In a summer of change at Molineux, Kilman has stepped into the void left by Ruben Neves by being named as the new club captain.
However, that development came about at the same time as Italian champions Napoli have been attempting to secure the transfer of the 26-year-old.
According to reports, Wolves would have been happy to cash in on the centre-back if Napoli made a bid in the region of £35m.
Benjamin Pavard 'to push for Man United move'
Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard will reportedly do his utmost to secure a move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The versatile France international - who is comfortable as a centre-back and full-back - has entered the final year of his contract with the German champions and is not expected to sign an extension.
Pavard remains a key part of Thomas Tuchel's plans, but he is thought to be keen to take on a new challenge away from Bavaria, and Bayern are prepared to let him leave for the right price.
Man United are rumoured to have seen one bid for the 27-year-old turned down by their German counterparts, who are demanding a €30m (£25.9m) figure to sanction a summer sale.

Pochettino confirms Kepa has permission to leave club ahead of Real Madrid move

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has permission to explore a move away from the club ahead of his imminent switch to Real Madrid.
The Spaniard ended the 2022-23 campaign as the Blues' number one, demoting Edouard Mendy down to the bench before the Senegal international departed for Al-Ahli.
However, Kepa's long-term future at Stamford Bridge has been called into question for some time, and the Blues added to their goalkeeping ranks with the signing of Robert Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this summer.
As a result, Bayern Munich and Real had apparently shown an interest in signing Kepa, who is now expected to complete a switch to the latter on loan for the 2023-24 campaign.
Fred leaves Manchester United for Fenerbahce
Manchester United have confirmed that Brazilian midfielder Fred has completed a move to Fenerbahce.
The 30-year-old travelled to Istanbul on Saturday for a medical after it was revealed that the two teams had come to an agreement over a transfer fee, believed to be around £13m.
Fred has now completed his medical and agreed personal terms, with the Turkish giants confirming his signature on Sunday afternoon.

Real Madrid 'set to announce loan deal for Kepa Arrizabalaga'

Real Madrid are reportedly preparing to announce the arrival of Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea for the 2023-24 campaign.
Los Blancos entered the market for a new stopper when it was confirmed that Thibaut Courtois had suffered a serious knee injury during a training session on Thursday.
Courtois is expected to be absent for the entire 2023-24 campaign, having damaged his ACL, and the likes of David de Gea and Sevilla's Bono have been linked with moves to Bernabeu of late.
However, Kepa has emerged as Real Madrid's leading target, with Carlo Ancelotti's side moving quickly for the Spaniard amid claims that Bayern Munich were also keen on his services.
Khephren Thuram 'emerges as Manchester United target'

Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Khephren Thuram, with the Nice midfielder emerging as a potential target for the club during this summer's transfer window.
The Red Devils have sold Fred to Fenerbahce, while Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay are both being linked with moves away from Old Trafford before the end of the market.
Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat is still believed to be Man United's leading target in central midfield, with the Morocco international being heavily linked with a switch to Erik ten Hag's side.
However, according to Get French Football News, Thuram is also admired, with the midfielder being scouted by the Red Devils during Nice's Ligue 1 clash against Lille on Friday night.
Aston Villa 'approach Man United to discuss Maguire deal'
Aston Villa have reportedly been in touch with Manchester United to register their interest in signing Harry Maguire during this summer's transfer window.
The Red Devils have accepted a £30m bid from West Ham United for Maguire, but a switch to the London Stadium has stalled, with personal terms believed to be a problem.
The England international's current salary at Old Trafford is thought to be around £190,000 a week, but West Ham are only said to be willing to offer £120,000 a week, meaning that he would have to accept a pay cut to move to the capital outfit.
There have been suggestions that Man United would be willing to give Maguire a £6m pay-off to leave the club, but a move to the Europa Conference League winners is currently up in the air.
West Ham 'open talks with Man United over Martial deal'

West Ham United have reportedly approached Manchester United to register their interest in signing Anthony Martial during this summer's transfer window.
The Hammers have already agreed a £30m deal with Man United for Harry Maguire, while the capital outfit are also being heavily linked with a move for Scott McTominay.
According to talkSPORT, a third Red Devils player is wanted by David Moyes's side, with Martial identified by the Europa Conference League holders as an ideal acquisition.
The report claims that discussions have already taken place over a potential deal for the Frenchman, who faces an uncertain future with the 20-time English champions.
Ajax 'considering loan offer for Donny van de Beek'
Ajax are reportedly considering making a loan offer for Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek.
The Netherlands international is widely expected to leave Old Trafford during this summer's transfer window, having failed to make his mark for the Red Devils since arriving from Ajax in September 2020.
Van de Beek has only made 60 appearances for the 20-time English champions, scoring twice and providing two assists, and he featured just 10 times last term, with his season ending in January due to injury.
The Dutchman has been involved in Man United's preparations for the 2023-24 campaign but is not believed to be in the plans of head coach Erik ten Hag.
Chelsea considering move for Kasper Schmeichel?

Chelsea are reportedly considering an approach for Nice goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga's loan move to Real Madrid.
Kepa is believed to be on the verge of a temporary switch to Los Blancos for the 2023-24 season as cover for Thibaut Courtois, who recently suffered a serious ACL injury.
With Edouard Mendy already departing the club for Al-Ahli this summer, and Gabriel Slonina joining Eupen on loan, Kepa's exit would leave Marcus Bettinelli as the only backup to new signing Robert Sanchez.
Bettinelli has also struggled with injuries over the past few months, so Chelsea would inevitably enter the market for a new shot-stopper to act as Sanchez's deputy for the upcoming campaign.
Harry Maguire Man United exit in danger of breaking down?

Harry Maguire's proposed move from Manchester United to West Ham United is allegedly in jeopardy due to a deadlock over personal terms.
Hammers boss David Moyes recently confirmed that his side had reached an agreement to sign the ex-Red Devils captain for a reported fee of £30m.
Maguire - who is under contract at Old Trafford until 2025 - would be in line for a hefty payoff should he leave Erik ten Hag's side this summer, although he would have to accept a pay cut at the London Stadium.
However, a report from The Sun claims that the centre-back's switch to the Irons is in danger of breaking down, as Maguire is yet to reach an agreement with the capital side on personal terms.
Bayern 'reject opening Man United bid for Benjamin Pavard'

Bayern Munich have reportedly turned down Manchester United's opening offer for right-back Benjamin Pavard.
The Red Devils are believed to have identified the France international as an ideal replacement for Harry Maguire, whom Man United have apparently accepted a £30m bid from West Ham United for.
It is still unclear whether Maguire will give the green light to a transfer to the London Stadium, but Erik ten Hag's side are making contingency plans in case their ex-captain departs.
Even if Maguire stays put, the Red Devils' defensive options have been depleted by the exits of Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe, while Eric Bailly is also expected to depart in the current window.
Kylian Mbappe 'open to PSG extension after rejoining training'
Paris Saint-Germain have announced that striker Kylian Mbappe has been reintegrated into first-team training following "very constructive" discussions with the 24-year-old, who is now said to be open to extending his contract.
Mbappe's next career move has dominated the talk of the transfer market since it was confirmed that he had refused to extend his deal beyond the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
While PSG are naturally trying to force Mbappe out of the club before he leaves on a free transfer, the France international insists on remaining in Paris before making a decision on his future next summer.
The stand-off between club and player has seen Mbappe demoted to training away from Luis Enrique's first team, joining a handful of other unwanted PSG players in a group labelled the 'undesirables'.
Transfer rumours: Wolves given huge Kilman boost, Iwobi Everton future in doubt

Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Max Kilman has reportedly come to an agreement over a new five-year contact with the club.
The centre-back's future has been the subject of much speculation this summer, with a number of clubs believed to be interested in signing him.
Kilman, 26, has been linked with a switch to Italian giants Napoli, but the defender was recently appointed the new Wolves captain following Ruben Neves's exit.
According to The Guardian, Wolves have come to an agreement with Kilman over a new five-year deal, which will end the speculation surrounding a possible summer exit.
Frenkie de Jong expresses a desire to retire at Barcelona

Frenkie de Jong has branded Barcelona 'the club of his life', with the midfielder expressing a desire to stay at Camp Nou for the remainder of his career.
The Netherlands international was tipped to complete a move away from Barcelona during last summer's transfer window, with Manchester United heavily linked with his services.
The Catalan outfit were open to selling the midfielder due to their financial problems, while there has also been speculation surrounding his future in the current market, with the Red Devils still believed to be monitoring the developments at Camp Nou.
De Jong is one of the highest earners at Barcelona and is also among a small group of players at the club capable of raising a huge transfer fee on the open market.
Arsenal's Marquinhos joins Nantes on season-long loan

Arsenal attacker Marquinhos has joined French Ligue 1 side Nantes on loan for the 2023-24 season.
The 20-year-old returned to the Gunners for pre-season after spending the second half of the 2022-23 campaign with Norwich City, where he scored one goal and set up another in 11 appearances.
However, Marquinhos's path to the Arsenal first team is currently blocked by Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson and Fabio Vieira, and he has been sent out on loan again in order to continue his development.
The Brazilian left Sao Paulo in the summer of 2022 to join Mikel Arteta's side and shone during his first-team debut against FC Zurich in the Europa League, coming up with a goal and assist to seal a 2-1 win for the Gunners.
