Chelsea close to agreeing Romeo Lavia deal?

Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of reaching an agreement for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.
The Blues are keen to strengthen their midfield following the departures of Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mateo Kovacic.
Mauricio Pochettino's side are currently pursuing a deal for Lavia, who is also being linked with a move to Liverpool.
The Reds have already had three offers turned down for the former Manchester City youngster, including their latest bid worth £45m.
Manchester United send scout to watch Jean-Clair Todibo?

Manchester United have reportedly sent a scout to watch Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo in action in Friday's Ligue 1 meeting with Lille.
The Red Devils have already made a significant impression in the transfer window, having recruited Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund.
They are still determined to make further additions, with Erik ten Hag keen to strengthen his defence and the centre of midfield.
With Harry Maguire believed to be close to joining West Ham United, the Red Devils have started searching for a new central defender.
Liverpool to walk away from Moises Caicedo deal?
Liverpool are reportedly prepared to walk away from a deal to sign Chelsea target Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Ecuador international is currently at the centre of one of the most dramatic transfer sagas in recent memory, with Chelsea and Liverpool both vying for his signature.
The Blues have been pursuing the 21-year-old throughout the transfer window, but their refusal to meet Brighton's £100m valuation allowed Liverpool to surge to the front of the queue.
Reports emerged on Friday morning that Liverpool had a £110m offer accepted by the Seagulls, before Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed that a deal had been agreed.

Manchester United confirm agreement with Fenerbahce for Fred
Manchester United have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Turkish giants Fenerbahce for the transfer of experienced midfielder Fred.
The Brazil international's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, with it becoming clear early in the transfer window that he would be leaving Old Trafford this summer.
Fred did not travel with the Red Devils squad on their pre-season tour of the United States, while he also did not feature in the friendlies with Lens and Athletic Bilbao last weekend.
Galatasaray, at one stage, were thought to be in a strong position to sign the South American, but Fenerbahce have recently emerged as the favourites for his signature.
Fulham close to signing former Wolves winger Adama Traore?

Fulham are reportedly on the verge of signing former Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore.
The Cottagers have strengthened their squad this summer with the additions of Calvin Bassey and Raul Jimenez.
However, Fulham boss Marco Silva has made it clear that he wants to make further signings before the transfer window closes.
Speaking ahead of the new Premier League season, Silva told reporters: "We are really short on numbers. Seven players left, and when you sign just two players, we definitely need more faces in.
Man United 'identify Edmond Tapsoba as Maguire replacement'

Manchester United have reportedly identified Bayer Leverkusen's Edmond Tapsoba as a replacement for Harry Maguire in their centre-back department.
The 24-year-old featured 33 times for Leverkusen in the Bundesliga last term as they finished sixth, scoring his only goal of the league campaign during a 2-0 win over VfL Bochum on January 25.
Tapsoba has featured 137 times for the German outfit since switching from Portuguese side Vitoria de Guimaraes in the January window of 2020, making the net ripple on five occasions over a three-and-a-half-year period.
The defender also has international pedigree, having featured 20 times for Burkina Faso since making his debut in June 2017 for Les Etalons.
Real Madrid 'add Meslier, Bounou to goalkeeper shortlist'

Real Madrid have reportedly identified Leeds United's Illan Meslier as a potential incoming following the ACL injury suffered by Thibaut Courtois in pre-season.
The 23-year-old has impressed for the Whites since making the switch from French club Lorient in August 2019, appearing in 128 matches for the Yorkshire-based side across Premier League and second-tier campaigns.
Meslier turned out on 34 occasions for Leeds in the top flight last term as they were relegated to the Championship, with United conceding a division-high tally of 78 goals in 38 matches.
The keeper has respectable international pedigree having played 11 times for France Under-21s since making his debut in October 2019, however the youngster is yet to receive a senior call-up for Les Bleus.
Tottenham's Hugo Lloris 'in talks with Lazio'
Hugo Lloris has reportedly opened talks with Lazio ahead of a potential move away from Tottenham Hotspur in this summer's transfer window.
The 2018 World Cup winner has recently expressed his desire for a new challenge in football and is in the process of locating his next team outside of the Premier League.
Lloris featured in 25 league matches for Spurs last season as they finished in eighth, meaning that the Lilywhites do not have any form of European football in the 2023-24 term.
Former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou now has the reins in North London, and it is understood that the Australian will not have the French shot-stopper in his squad by the end of the window.
Man City 'agree six-year deal with Lucas Paqueta'
West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta has agreed to sign a six-year contract with Manchester City, according to a report.
The 25-year-old has emerged as a leading target for the Citizens following the arrivals of Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol earlier this summer.
Paqueta was on Man City's radar before he completed a club-record £51m move to West Ham from Lyon last summer.
The Brazil international scored five goals and provided seven assists in 41 matches for the Hammers in the 2022-23 campaign in which David Moyes's side celebrated winning the Europa Conference League.
Arsenal's Charlie Patino joins Swansea City on loan

Arsenal midfielder Charlie Patino has joined Swansea City on loan for the 2023-24 season.
The 19-year-old - regarded as one of the most promising players to emerge from the Gunners' Hale End academy - was a regular for Blackpool during a productive loan spell last season.
Patino amassed three goals and four assists in 37 matches for the Tangerines, but he has not been involved for Arsenal in pre-season amid reports claiming that he is set to leave the club permanently.
However, the England Under-20 international has instead departed on loan for a second successive season, and he has been given the number 18 shirt at the Liberty Stadium.
Moyes confirms Maguire agreement, Ward-Prowse medical
West Ham United manager David Moyes has confirmed that there is an agreement in place with Manchester United to sign centre-back Harry Maguire.
The Hammers had initially seen an opening bid of £20m rejected by the Red Devils, who were holding out for a fee between £40m and £50m.
However, a compromise has been reached and it was reported on Wednesday that West Ham had seen an improved offer in the region of £30m for Maguire accepted by Man United.
Personal terms are being discussed and the 30-year-old is believed to be open to making the move to the London Stadium despite suggestions earlier this summer that he was holding out for a 'bigger club'.
Ange Postecoglou: 'Tottenham will move forward without Harry Kane'
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Harry Kane is on the verge of signing for Bayern Munich and has affirmed that the Lilywhites will move forward without the England captain.
Following a protracted transfer saga and multiple failed bids, Bayern finally satisfied Daniel Levy's financial demands with a club-record fee - worth a reported £100m and potentially rising to £120m - for the 30-year-old.
There was some uncertainty whether Kane would end up agreeing to Bayern's contract proposal, as the striker wanted his future to be resolved before Spurs' Premier League opener against Brentford on Sunday.
Spurs were also said to be holding up Kane's flight to Munich due to a slight hitch with the agreement, but the marksman is now set to travel to Germany in order to undergo his medical and agree a four-year deal.
Kane 'flying to Germany to undergo Bayern medical'

Harry Kane will reportedly fly to Germany on Friday to undergo his Bayern Munich medical ahead of completing a permanent move from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 30-year-old has been the subject of a drawn-out transfer saga throughout this summer, with Bayern continuously expressing their desire to land their primary target.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has been reluctant to sell the club's star striker and the North Londoners have rejected multiple big-money offers from the Bavarian giants.
However, Bayern made a significant breakthrough in negotiations on Thursday when it was reported that Tottenham had finally agreed to sell the England captain for a fee believed to be in excess of €100m (£86.4m).
Thomas Frank confirms imminent David Raya move to Arsenal
Brentford boss Thomas Frank has confirmed that goalkeeper David Raya is on his way to sign for Arsenal.
The Spain international has entered the final year of his contract with the Bees, who had initially shown no intention of budging on their £40m asking price.
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur both dropped their interest in Raya after learning of Brentford's demands, while the goalkeeper had no interest in a move to Bayern Munich either.
As a result, Arsenal jumped to the head of the queue and are believed to have agreed a deal to sign Raya on an initial loan for £3m, which includes an option to make his stay permanent for £27m next summer.
Transfer rumours: Downes to Southampton, Kovar to Leverkusen, Hamer to Sheffield United
Southampton are reportedly at the head of the queue for West Ham United midfielder Flynn Downes.
The 24-year-old made the move to the Hammers from Swansea City last summer, and he featured on 35 occasions for David Moyes's side during the 2022-23 campaign.
Downes played 21 Premier League matches but found it difficult to secure regular starts, and there will be more competition for midfield positions during the new season.
James Ward-Prowse is believed to be closing in on a move to West Ham from Southampton, and according to Football Insider, Downes could be moving in the opposite direction.
Ten Hag explains decision to pursue Hojlund over Kane
Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has said that his club 'considered a lot of things' before deciding to make Rasmus Hojlund their leading centre-forward target this summer.
The Red Devils were linked with a number of strikers, including Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane and Napoli's Victor Osimhen, before deciding to focus on bringing in Hojlund from Atalanta BC.
Kane is now on the verge of completing a move to Bayern Munich, and Ten Hag was asked about the England captain during his press conference to preview Monday's Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
"I don't think that I have to go into that discussion or give an opinion about that," Ten Hag said when questioned on the club deciding against a move for Kane. "We are professional, the processes we do are really careful.
Ten Hag expects Maguire to be available for Wolves clash
Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag is expecting to have Harry Maguire available for selection in Monday's Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have allegedly agreed a £30m deal with West Ham United for Maguire, but there have been rumours that the defender is having second thoughts over a switch to the London Stadium.
The 30-year-old is behind Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof in the pecking order for the roles in the middle of the defence, so he would not have been considered to start against Wolves even if there had been no speculation surrounding his future.
However, speaking during his press conference on Friday afternoon, Ten Hag said "of course" when asked whether the England international would be available for the team's season opener.
Man United's Eric Bailly 'agrees personal terms with Besiktas'

Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly has reportedly reached an agreement with Besiktas over personal terms, with the Turkish giants now in talks with Erik ten Hag's side over a transfer fee.
The Ivory Coast international is not in Man United's plans moving forward and will therefore leave the club on a permanent basis before the summer transfer window closes for business.
There is believed to have been a host of Saudi Arabian interest in the centre-back, and a recent report claimed that the 29-year-old had received two offers from the Saudi Pro League.
However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Besiktas are now in pole position, having reached an agreement with the centre-back over personal terms.
Pochettino coy over Caicedo talk, stresses need for midfielder

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has refused to be drawn into commenting on speculation regarding Moises Caicedo, despite admitting that Chelsea want to sign a new midfielder.
While the Blues can claim to have enjoyed a productive period in the transfer market, Pochettino is lacking the Premier-League-proven midfielder that he craves.
For much of the summer window, Chelsea have been regarded as the clear favourites to secure a deal for Brighton & Hove Albion's Caicedo, who has been valued at £100m.
However, in the early hours of Friday morning, Liverpool agreed a deal with the Seagulls for the Ecuador international, Jurgen Klopp openly commenting on the development in his pre-match press conference on Friday.
Jorginho staying at Arsenal this summer despite interest
Jorginho's agent has revealed that the experienced midfielder will be remaining with Arsenal this summer despite the speculation surrounding his client's future at the Emirates Stadium.
The Italy international made the move to Arsenal from Chelsea in January, and he featured on 16 occasions for the Gunners in the second half of the 2022-23 campaign.
Jorginho only has a contract with Mikel Arteta's side until next June, though, and there has been speculation surrounding his future during the summer market.
The 31-year-old has been the subject of interest from Saudi Arabian and Spanish clubs this summer, according to his agent Joao Santos, but the midfielder will be remaining at Arsenal.
Fenerbahce 'offered Anthony Martial on a free transfer'

Fenerbahce have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Manchester United forward Anthony Martial on a free transfer this summer.
The Turkish giants are said to be closing in on a deal for Red Devils midfielder Fred, with the Brazil international expected to soon travel to Istanbul for his medical.
However, according to Turkish journalist Sercan Hamzaoglu, there could be two Man United players moving to the club this summer, as Martial has also been offered to them free of charge.
Hamzaoglu claims that the France international's representative Erkan Sulejmani has told Fenerbahce that they would be able to sign Martial for nothing this summer despite the fact that the forward has a contract at Old Trafford until next summer.
Caicedo 'tells Liverpool he wants Chelsea move'
Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo has reportedly informed Liverpool that he only wants to sign for Chelsea this summer.
After a drawn-out saga where the Blues appeared to be the only realistic destination for the Ecuador international, the past 24 hours have proven to be up there with the most dramatic in terms of transfers in Premier League history.
For a number of weeks, Chelsea have been refusing to meet Brighton's £100m demands, only to then see Liverpool emerge as genuine contenders for the 21-year-old after they sold Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
During the early hours of Friday morning, Liverpool are said to have presented a proposal in the region of £111m to their Brighton counterparts, one which was accepted.
Moises Caicedo to Liverpool: Expensive panic buy or essential business?
Rather than being the start of the new Premier League season, one would think that it was transfer deadline day given the twists and turns over the last 24 hours or so.
As if the continuing developments in the Harry Kane to Bayern Munich saga were not dramatic enough, news also emerged early on Friday that Liverpool had usurped Chelsea in the race for the highly-rated and highly-coveted Moises Caicedo.
True to Brighton & Hove Albion's insistence throughout the window, though, the in-demand 21-year-old will not come cheap.
Liverpool are expected to shell out a British-record transfer fee of an eye-watering £110m for the Ecuadorian, just two-and-a-half years after Brighton landed him from Independiente del Valle for a little over £4m.
Chelsea 'ready to better Liverpool's offer for Caicedo'
Chelsea are reportedly prepared to better Liverpool's offer for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.
After a drawn-out saga throughout the summer window, the race for the Ecuador international appears to be coming to an head just hours before the start of the Premier League campaign.
Up until Thursday night, Chelsea had been the clear frontrunners for the 21-year-old, who is known to be interested in making the switch to Stamford Bridge.
However, with the Blues having failed to meet Brighton's £100m demands, Liverpool stepped in on Thursday night to bid in the region of £111m.
Klopp confirms Liverpool agreement over Moises Caicedo deal
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the club have agreed a fee with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Moises Caicedo.
News broke early on Friday morning that the Reds had seen a British-record offer of a reported £110m accepted for the midfielder.
The development was the latest twist in a long-running saga that had seen Chelsea considered front-runners for Caicedo's signature for much of the summer, while Liverpool focused their attention on Romeo Lavia.
Reports have suggested that Caicedo could undergo a medical at Liverpool as early as today, but Klopp stopped short of revealing whether or not the player had agreed to the move yet.
Everton sign Youssef Chermiti from Sporting Lisbon

Everton have announced the signing of Youssef Chermiti from Sporting Lisbon.
The 19-year-old joins the Toffees for an undisclosed fee and has penned a four-year contract at Goodison Park, keeping him at the club until 2027.
Chermiti made his senior debut for Sporting in a 2-2 draw with bitter rivals Benfica earlier this year and went on to feature regularly during the second half of the season.
The 6ft 3in striker scored three times in 22 appearances overall, in addition to providing two assists.
Transfer rumours: Zaniolo to Villa, Archer to Sheff Utd, Cresswell to Wolves

Aston Villa are reportedly pushing to sign Italy international Nicolo Zaniolo from Galatasaray.
The 24-year-old midfielder only joined the Turkish giants from Roma in January, but he has emerged as a summer target for Unai Emery's side following the news that Emiliano Buendia is facing several months on the sidelines with an ACL injury picked up in training on Wednesday.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Villa are preparing to make a formal offer of an initial loan deal with an option to buy Zaniolo, who is said to be keen to join the Premier League club this summer.
Villa sporting director Monchi will work closely on the proposed deal and he is familiar with Zaniolo having signed the midfielder for Roma in 2018 during his time with the Serie A club.
Man United 'in pole position to sign Benjamin Pavard'
Manchester United have reportedly emerged as the favourites to secure a deal for Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard.
The Premier League giants can claim to have enjoyed a productive transfer window, signing goalkeeper Andre Onana, midfielder Mason Mount and forward Rasmus Hojlund.
As a result of spending in excess of £160m on three players, United are now in a position where they need to facilitate sales in order to boost their position with FFP.
Midfielder Fred is seemingly on the verge of completing a transfer to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, adding to United's need to add another defensive-minded player to the engine room.
Spurs ready to consider bid for Romelu Lukaku?
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.
Since the end of last season, the future of Kane has been a hot topic of debate, a consequence of the England captain heading into the final year of his contract.
For much of that time, it has appeared that a switch to Bayern Munich has been unlikely, yet the relevant parties are now at the final stages of completing a deal.
While Spurs will be losing one of the greatest players in their history for an alleged £86.4m fee, Ange Postecoglou also has the task of securing a replacement for the club's all-time top goalscorer.
Chelsea 'ready to make approach for PSG's Verratti'

Chelsea are reportedly contemplating whether to press ahead with a bid for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.
Throughout the summer transfer window, it has been apparent that the Blues want to significantly strengthen their options in the centre of the pitch.
Although Lesley Ugochukwu has arrived from Rennes, Brighton & Hove Albion's Moises Caicedo has been regarded as a priority target, the Ecuador international also seemingly eager to move to Stamford Bridge.
However, after Chelsea failed to meet Brighton's £100m valuation, Liverpool have allegedly stepped in to beat their Premier League rivals in the race for the 21-year-old.
Spurs 'revoke permission for Kane to undergo Bayern medical'
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly revoked their permission for Harry Kane to fly to Germany for a medical with Bayern Munich.
The long-running transfer saga took a significant step forward on Thursday as news emerged that Spurs had finally accepted a bid of around £86.4m for their talismanic striker.
Bayern had seen numerous offers rejected prior to that, but the accepted bid seemingly left it down to Kane to decide where his future lay.
The 30-year-old is understood to have made the decision to leave Spurs for Bayern late on Thursday night, having verbally agreed a four-year deal at the Allianz Arena.

Brighton 'accept £110m Liverpool bid for Moises Caicedo'
Liverpool are reportedly set to sign Brighton & Hove Albion's Moises Caicedo after agreeing a British-record £110m deal for the Ecuadorian midfielder.
The 21-year-old has quickly become one of the Premier League's most sought-after lynchpins thanks to his dogged performances in the middle of the park for the Seagulls.
Brighton poached Caicedo from Independiente del Valle for a mere €5m (£4.3m) in January 2021 after Manchester United decided not to pursue a deal for the midfielder, who has since blossomed into an integral player for club and country.
Caicedo has scored two goals and provided three assists in 53 matches for Roberto De Zerbi's side, playing a key role in helping Brighton qualify for the 2023-24 Europa League.
