Jose Mourinho: 'Chelsea will not miss David Luiz'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho claims that the club will not miss defender David Luiz, now of Paris Saint-Germain, as he was not first choice for the Blues last season.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that the club will not miss defender David Luiz following the Brazilian's £50m departure to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 27-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2011, but saw his place in the Blues' starting XI jeopardized by John Terry and Gary Cahill's partnership last term.

Mourinho told the Sunday Telegraph: "Last season [Luiz] was not regular first-choice for us.

"David did important things here, was always a good professional and we will miss him as a good guy when he was with us. But from a football point of view we believe our squad is stronger this season than it was.

"As a central defender he was not at all [first-choice], it was John and Cahill during the whole season."

Luiz represented Brazil at the World Cup this summer, where the Selecao claimed fourth place at their home tournament.
