Preview: Sevilla vs. Las Palmas - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's La Liga clash between Sevilla and Las Palmas, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Estadio Ramon will play host to a gigantic match in Spain's top flight on Tuesday evening, as 16th-placed Sevilla host 19th-placed Las Palmas.

Sevilla are only four points outside of the relegation zone in the La Liga table with three games left, while Las Palmas sit three points behind 17th-placed Alaves, so both teams will be fired-up to collect all three points on Tuesday night.

Sevilla finished 14th in La Liga last season, which proved to be their worst final spot in Spain's top flight since being relegated back in 2000, but there is a strong chance they will be even lower come the end of this campaign.

Indeed, a disastrous season has seen Los Nervionenses pick up just 38 points from 35 matches, which has left them only four points clear of 18th-placed Leganes with three games left, so relegation is still a major threat at this stage of proceedings.

Joaquin Caparros's side will enter this match off the back of a 3-2 defeat to Celta Vigo, with that result stretching their winless run in Spain's top flight to eight matches - their last success came away to Real Sociedad on March 9.

Sevilla will face Real Madrid and Villarreal in their final two league games of the season, so a defeat against Las Palmas would leave them in an incredibly vulnerable position in the table heading into the final straight.

The 1945-46 La Liga champions were held to a 2-2 draw by Las Palmas in the reverse match earlier this season, but they were 1-0 winners in the last meeting between the two sides at Estadio Ramon in September 2023.

Las Palmas, meanwhile, will enter this match off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano, with Diego Martinez's side now suffering three straight losses at the worst possible time of the campaign.

Pio Pio have a record of eight wins, eight draws and 19 defeats from their 35 league matches this season to collect 32 points, which has left them three points behind 17th-placed Alaves heading into their final three games.

La Union Deportiva will take on Leganes in a gigantic match on May 18, so a victory over Sevilla on Tuesday night would leave them in a position to potentially escape the relegation zone ahead of their last game of the season away to Espanyol.

Las Palmas have lost 10 of their 17 away league matches this season, but Sevilla have just five victories from their 17 league games on home soil, so it is shaping up to be a fascinating clash here.

Pio Pio have struggled defensively this season, but they do have some serious firepower in their side, with Sandro Ramirez and Fabio Silva netting 19 times between them in Spain's top flight during the 2024-25 campaign.

Team News

Sevilla will welcome Jose Angel Carmona back into their squad following a suspension, but Tanguy Nianzou, Ruben Vargas and Akor Adams are again expected to miss out due to injury problems.

Djibril Sow and Albert Sambi Lokonga were also absent against Celta, and there is a chance that the pair will miss out on Tuesday, with Sevilla having a number of fitness issues at the worst possible stage of the season.

Head coach Caparros could introduce Isaac Romero and Suso into his starting side, while there will also be a return to the XI for Carmona.

As for Las Palmas, Kirian Rodriguez remains unavailable for selection, with the midfielder revealing back in February that he had suffered a cancer relapse.

Scott McKenna is also a major doubt due to an injury problem, but the visitors are hopeful that on-loan Wolves forward Silva could potentially be back on the bench after a recent issue.

Sandro is set to return in the final third of the field, with Adnan Januzaj likely to drop down to the bench, but there should be a spot through the middle for Oli McBurnie.

Sevilla possible starting lineup:
Nyland; Carmona, Bade, Gudelj, Salas; Suso, Agoume, Saul, Pedrosa; Lukebakio, Romero

Las Palmas possible starting lineup:
Horkas; Rozada, Suarez, Herzog, Marmol; J Munoz, Essugo, Bajcetic, Moleiro; McBurnie, Sandro

We say: Sevilla 1-1 Las Palmas

Both managers will be wary of what a defeat would equal in this match, which means that a cagey affair could be on the cards; it is difficult to back either with any real confidence considering their form, so we have had to settle on a share of the spoils.
