Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Real Madrid could line up for Thursday's Copa del Rey quarter-final clash with Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is hoping to have as many as four players returning to his matchday squad for Thursday's Madrid derby against rivals Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey.

Los Blancos secured a 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in La Liga on Sunday without the services of David Alaba, Aurelien Tchouameni (both calf), Dani Carvajal (muscle), Eden Hazard and Lucas Vazquez (both ankle) due to injury.

Vazquez is set to remain sidelined for at least a few more weeks, but Alaba, Tchouameni, Carvajal and Hazard could all be in a position to return for Thursday's contest at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Should Alaba be fit to start, the Austrian could be named at centre-back alongside Antonio Rudiger, with Eder Militao potentially switching to right-back at the expense of Nacho Fernandez.

In midfield, Tchouameni could take up the deep-lying midfield role ahead of Eduardo Camavinga, while experienced duo Luka Modric and Toni Kroos could also be recalled to the first XI after beginning on the substitutes' bench against Bilbao.

Federico Valverde, who started in midfield last time out, could therefore move up to operate on the right flank at the expense of Marco Asensio, joining Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema in attack.

Hazard will likely begin on the substitutes' bench if he is deemed fit to return to first-team action on Thursday, along with the likes of Rodrygo, Mariano Diaz, Jesus Vallejo and Alvaro Odriozola.

Real Madrid possible starting lineup: Courtois; Nacho, Militao, Rudiger, Mendy; Modric, Tchouameni, Kroos; Valverde, Benzema, Vinicius Jr
