Manchester United reportedly submit an offer for a Premier League attacker amid rumours that Rasmus Hojlund could be on his way out of the club in the summer.

Manchester United have reportedly made a bid for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, and the offer has raised questions about the future of Rasmus Hojlund.

The Red Devils will play Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the Europa League on Wednesday, with the victor set to be rewarded with a place in the Champions League.

Qualification for Europe's premier club competition could help boss Ruben Amorim rebuild his side's struggling attack and replace striker Hojlund.

The Danish international has only managed to find the back of the net 10 times in 50 appearances this season for United, and it is not surprising that he has been linked with an exit.

Fichajes claim that United are on the lookout for offensive reinforcements and say that the club have submitted an offer worth more than £54m to Brentford for Mbeumo.

Does Mbeumo make sense for United?

Mbeumo was part of the Brentford team that lost 3-2 against Fulham on Sunday afternoon, but while he missed a penalty during the game, he still managed to find the back of the net.

His strike was his 19th goal in the Premier League this season, with only Chris Wood (20), Erling Haaland (21), Alexander Isak (23) and Mohamed Salah (28) having scored more than him.

It should be noted that Mbeumo is the only one amongst that list to be playing for a club outside of the top seven, and the fact he has stepped up in the absence of striker Ivan Toney is commendable.

The 25-year-old is capable of playing out wide as well as up front, and his positional flexibility could allow him to fill the void left by Hojlund despite the fact he is not a traditional striker.

Under Amorim, his blistering pace could help United become significantly more threatening during counter-attacks by providing Bruno Fernandes with a pacey target to play towards.

However, United have also been strongly linked with a move for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap and Wolverhampton Wanderers attacking midfielder Matheus Cunha.

It is difficult to see how he would fit into the starting XI if the Red Devils looked to sign both Delap and Cunha given Fernandes is also at the club, so perhaps Mbeumo is seen as an alternative target to Cunha if the club fail to qualify for the Champions League.
