Manchester United have reportedly been handed a boost in their pursuit of Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo, with Liverpool cooling their interest in the Cameroon international.
The 25-year-old has been in excellent form for the Bees during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 18 goals and registering eight assists in 39 appearances in all competitions.
There is currently a host of speculation surrounding Mbeumo's future, with the forward widely expected to be on the move during this summer's transfer window, and a number of clubs have been credited with an interest.
Liverpool are among the teams to be linked with the attacker, but according to Football Insider, the newly-crowned Premier League champions have cooled their interest ahead of the summer transfer window.
The report claims that Liverpool were intending to move for Mbeumo if Mohamed Salah left on a free transfer, but the Egypt international has now penned a new contract at Anfield.

Liverpool 'cool interest' in Brentford star Mbeumo
As a result, Liverpool are planning to concentrate their efforts on bringing in a new striker, which will be welcome news for Man United, who will seemingly have less competition for Mbeumo.
The forward has a contract with the Bees until June 2026, while the club also have the option to extend his deal for a further 12 months, so Thomas Frank's team are in a strong position when it comes to his future.
Mbeumo made the move to Brentford from Troyes in August 2019, and he has represented the Bees on 239 occasions in all competitions, scoring 68 goals and registering 50 assists in the process.
Man United head coach Ruben Amorim allegedly believes that Mbeumo would be perfect to operate as one of the number 10s in his 3-4-3 formation, while he could also potentially fill in as a right-sided wing-back.

Norgaard expecting Mbeumo to leave Brentford
Brentford captain Christian Norgaard has admitted that Mbeumo is "likely" to leave the club during the summer market.
"I think Bryan is likely to go. I don't know about [Yoane] Wissa yet. Everyone hopes that he might stay. Either way, I'm happy for the season and am happy for both of them. They deserve it so much," he told Sky Sports News.
"I'm pretty calm about what will happen with Bryan and Wissa. A lot of questions are asked about them and you can almost feel the worries around the players, when you talk about them maybe leaving us.
"I was one [of them] when we were losing Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma, Ivan Toney. So it continues, but the club has already brought in Igor Thiago, who is another fantastic character and he will also take the league by storm at some point.
"When that is, I don't know but I'm sure he will be ready if Wissa gets his dream move, or Bryan leaves and there will be a change of the offensive players. I think the club is so talented in recruiting and always being two or three steps ahead."
Arsenal and Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest in Mbeumo, with Brentford thought to value him in the region of £60m.
