Manchester United are allegedly interested in signing Rosario Central defender Juan Gimenez during this summer's transfer window.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Rosario Central defender Juan Gimenez, with the Red Devils believed to be at the head of the queue for the highly-rated teenager.

Gimenez, 18, has made 21 appearances for Rosario, scoring once and providing one assist in the process, and there is believed to be a whole host of clubs showing an interest in the Argentina Under-20s international.

According to Football Insider, Man United are currently leading the race for the centre-back, with scouts from the 20-time English champions delivering favourable reports to senior figures at Old Trafford.

Gimenez fits perfectly into the English club's new transfer policy, with outstanding young talents being targeted, shown by the recent deals for Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi, while Diego Leon is also set to arrive from Cerro Porteno this summer.

The Rosario defender only has a contract until December 2025, and it is expected that he will be on the move in the coming months.

Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans are both set to leave Man United on free transfers this summer, while Harry Maguire, 32, is not a long-term option in the middle of the English club's defence.

Matthijs de Ligt, 25, and Leny Yoro, 19, are set to be important players under head coach Ruben Amorim moving forward, but Man United are said to be looking to add a teenage talent in that area of the field.

Gimenez certainly fits the brief, and it is unlikely that the Red Devils would have to break the bank to sign him.

Man United are currently going through an incredibly difficult period in their history, but there are reasons to be hopeful for the future, with an exciting new stadium being announced, while there are some excellent young players in and around the first team.

Will Mainoo, Garnacho be a part of Man United's future?

Kobbie Mainoo, 19, and Alejandro Garnacho, 20, are among the excellent crop of youngsters at Old Trafford, but it is certainly possible that both will be on the move during this summer's transfer window.

Mainoo is said to be ready to reject the chance to sign a new deal at Old Trafford in order to seek a move abroad, and his sale would count as pure profit under the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules.

Garnacho, meanwhile, was heavily linked with both Chelsea and Napoli in January, but it has recently been claimed that the Argentina international has already reached a verbal agreement with Atletico Madrid over a switch to Wanda Metropolitano.

It is likely that at least one will be on the move at the end of the season, but Obi, Heaven and Sekou Kone are among the talented youngsters at the club, and one more could be about to arrive in the shape of Rosario's Gimenez.
