Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Newcastle United

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's EFL Cup final against Newcastle United.

Nearly six years on from winning their most recent piece of silverware, Manchester United can end their trophyless streak when they lock horns with Newcastle United at Wembley in Sunday's EFL Cup final.

The Red Devils last got their hands on the trophy under Jose Mourinho in 2017 - their fifth triumph in the tournament - and they comfortably sent Nottingham Forest packing in the semi-finals 5-0 on aggregate.

Erik ten Hag's men travel to the capital having recorded a 4-3 aggregate triumph over Barcelona in the Europa League knockout playoff round, coming from behind to secure a memorable 2-1 second-leg win at Old Trafford on Thursday night.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the final against Newcastle, who have not won a major trophy since the 1955 FA Cup.

Marcus Rashford

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: February 26 (vs. Newcastle)

Marcus Rashford limped out of Thursday's win over Barcelona before posting a cryptic update on Instagram - a photo of him trudging off the field accompanied by a bandaged emoji - and the red-hot striker has seemingly emerged as a doubt for the final.

Anthony Martial

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hip
Possible return date: March 5 (vs. Liverpool)

The luckless Anthony Martial is still struggling to overcome a hip problem, and Ten Hag revealed before the win over Barcelona that the Frenchman was yet to rejoin team training, so his chances of making the squad for the final are slim to none.

Christian Eriksen

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: April 29 (vs. Aston Villa)

Christian Eriksen suffered a severe ankle injury during Man United's FA Cup win over Reading in January and will not return until the final few weeks of the season in the best case scenario.

Donny van de Beek

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Donny van de Beek will not play again this season after sustaining a serious knee injury against Bournemouth last month, but he would not have expected to start on Sunday anyway.

MANCHESTER UNITED'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man United have no players suspended for the final.
